Special meeting ca±led by ~ayor Shaffer to discuss the repair of the Police Car.
M eating was called to order by President Sweatt.
T hose present were Mayor Shaffer,Pres. Sweatt and Councilmen Semblar,Ellingsen,
Taylor and Mrs Chessere
Mayor Shaffer advised that the Police car was getting in bad shape and needed some
heavy repair such as main bearings,connecting rod bearings,oil pump and etc. After some
discussion as to which was cheaper,to have car repaired or to turn in the old car for a
new one it was moved by Councilman Sembler which was seconded by Councilman Taylor and
carried. Price of the new car to be $ 1373.00 after allowance of $ 1700.00 for the old car
plus discount and tax deducted~ 01ty not to be billed for repai~ of the old police car/
It was agreed to sell the old ford dump truck for ~ $0.00 unless a higher price could
be obtained.Mrs Chesser is to let the Clerk know the next day as to what to sell same for.
There being no more business meeting was duly adjourned.

Regular Meeting June 14,1954.
meeting called to order by President Sweatt.
~hose present were ~ayor Shaffer,President Sweatt,Oouncilman Sembler,~llingsen,Taylor
and Chesser.
Minutes of the last regular meeting of May 24th, and Spedial meetings of May 28th and
June 8,1954 were approved as read.
Bills amounting to $354.59 approved by the finance committee were authorized to be
paid on motion by CouncilmansS~r which was secohded by Councilman 0hesser.carried.
Councilman Chesser who being in charge of selling the Ford dump truck,presented a checkI
of fifty dollars from R.E.Turlington for the purchase of same truck.
Councilman mllingsen reported he had not secured locations for the Pelican Island
Signs and report of same held over to next regular meeting.
Councilman Ellingsen was instructed to contact Mr Edge Carter to have the City Dump
put in good shape,same to be covered up and new ditch dug.
Road committee was instructed to find out': from Hr Owens what was to be done with the
surplus earth acuumulated by grading alley in the rear of the City Hall and also price
of opening alley on north side of 1st Street in the rear of Mr Turlington's Station.
Street corm~ittee said the earth ._a_ccum~lated by gradeing alley on south side of lst.St.
could be used to fill low spots on the north side of 1st street. Committee to report by
next regular meeting.
~rs Charles Stevenson's letter to the City Council requesting the pine trees be re-
moved from in front of her residence,and if the city could not remove same she stated
she would like to have them toped out.Same was turned over to street and alley committee
and report at next meeting.
i~ayor Shaffer presented a letter from the ~'lorida ~otor Court Association asking the
the City of Sebastian to adopt a resolution in local recognition of said Association,
Whereby Councilman Chesser moved a resolution be drawn up and was seconded by Councilman
~llingsen and carried.
Councilman Ohesser asked the Council to purchase a four unit swing for ~he ohrildren
and to~J~have same placed in the City parE,the price of swing ~eing $ 97.90 ~0B factory.
A roll call vote was taken on the~purchase of said swing and vote was ~uanlmous for the
purchase of swing, carried.
President Sweatt at this time told the ~ity council that he was offering his resignation
and asked same to be accepted as this date,all Council members tried to have President Sweatt
to reconsider his action and after some discussion it was moved by 0ouncilman Sembler and
seconded by Councilman Ellingsen and the Clerk was instructed to ~ave letter of appreciation
drawn up for his services to the City as Councilman.Carried, wouncilm_an Sembler Moved to acce
accept lv~ Sweatt's resignation seconded by Oouncilman ~llingsen.
President Protem Taylor then took over the duties of the Chair and their beimg no business
to come befor the uouncil meeting was duly adjourned.
'~he Council was called back to consider sale of lots 7-8 BLk 4 of School Park S/D to
H.C.G~rner.0n motion by Coun~lman Chesser and seconded by Councilman oembler said lots
to be sold for the sum of ~lS0~00,~lerk was instructed ~andles same.
