PRESENT: VICE MAYOR EVERETT T. GASS, COUNCILMAN FRANK OBERBECK, COUNCILWOMAN FLORENCE PHELAN, COUNCILMAN RICHARD VOTAPKA, CITY ATTORNEY DANIEL KILBRIDE, MAYOR PAT FLOOD, JR. MR. RICK PELUSO, REGIONAL MANAGER OF JONES INTERCABLE, REPORTED THAT SINCE JONES INTERCABLE TOOK OVER THE INTERCABLE BUSINESS IN JANUARY, 1981, MANY IMPROVEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE, WITH FUTURE IM- PROVEMENTS PLANNED. THE PROPOSED RATE INCREASE IS NEEDED FOR THE OVERALL OPERATING COSTS. MR. SISK, GENERAL MANAGER, JONES iNTERCABLE, GAVE A BREAKDOWN OF THE INCREASED RATES: BASIC PACKAGE CHARGE NOW BEING $7.25, INCREASED TO $8.50, RE-CONNECT CHARGE NOW BEING $7.50, INCREASED TO $12.50. MR. RICK PELUSO AND MR. BILL SISK, DISCUSSED PROBLEMS AND COMPLAINTS THE PUBLIC HAD CONCERNING SERVICE AND CABLE VISION QUALITY. THEY STATED THAT THESE PROBLEMS WOULD BE LOOKED INTO FURTHER AND JONES WOULD TRY TO RECTIFY THEM IF THEY COULD. VICE MAYOR GASS STATED THAT HE FELT JONES INTERCABLE WAS ENTITLED TO AN INCREASE, BUT THOUGHT THEY SHOULD FIRST SHOW SOME FUTURE IMPROVEMENTS. PUBLIC HEARING - JUNE 8, 1981 ATTORNEY KILBRIDE STATED THAT CHANGES WILL BE MADE IN THE ORIGINAL FRANCHISE, ESPECIALLY WITH REFERENCE TO SECTION 12, EXPLAINING RATES TO CUSTOMERS. COUNCILWOMAN PHELAN REPORTED THAT SALLYDALE WIMBROW HAS OFFERED THE CITY A LOG CABIN TO BE USED AS A MUSEUM OR A HISTORIC MONUMENT. SHE ADDED THAT THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE PROPERTY WHERE THE LOG CABIN IS SITUATED MIGHT BE ANNEXED INTO THE CITY AND WONDERED IF THAT WOULD HAVE ANY BEARING ON THE CITY'S ACCEPTANCE OF IT. MAYOR FLOOD REPORTED THAT HE WOULD TALK TO SALLYDALE WIMBROW AND FIND OUT IF THERE WERE ANY STIP- ULATIONS AS TO THE CITY ACCEPTING THE LOG CABIN. MAYOR FLOOD REPORTED, THAT HE SPOKE TO MR. VICKERS IN REGARDS TO THE OLD RAILROAD STATION. THE VICKERS FAMILY HAS REQUESTED THAT A DECISION BE MADE WITHIN THE NEXT 6 MONTHS. MAYOR FLOOD READ A LETTER ADDRESSED TO THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL FROM MRS. MEDCALF THANKING MRS. ELIZABETH REID, CITY CLERK, AND THE STREET DEPARTMENT FOR THEIR PROMPT ATTENTION IN RESOLVING A TRAFFIC PROBLEM ON HER STREET. MAYOR FLOOD REMINDED THE PUBLIC THAT THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION IS STILL LOOKING FOR MEMBERS. MAYOR FLOOD REPORTED THAT, THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS SENT A LETTER ON GENERAL DEVELOPMENT UNITS 3, 4, AND 5. GENERAL DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION REPORTED THAT THEY ARE DOING THEIR BEST TO COMPLY WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL REGULATIONS FOR A PERMIT. THERE FOLLOWED A DISCUSSION ON A REQUEST FOR A VARIANCE FROM ROBERT SANCHEZ WHO MISTAKENLY LOCATED SETBACKS FOR A PATIO ON THE WRONG LOT LINES ON HIS LOT ON CANAL CIRCLE. IT WAS AGREED THAT THERE WAS NO NECESSITY TO PRESENT THIS MATTER TO THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT AND MR. SANCHEZ WILL BE PERMITTED TO USE THE SAME SETBACK AS HIS NEIGHBORS. REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING - JUNE 8, 1981 MAYOR FLOOD REPORTED THAT SOME PROPERTY ON STATE ROAD 512 IS BEING CLEARED AND SEBASTIAN CRANE AND DRAG LINE SAID THEY WOULD PUT IN A SUB GRADE ON A ROAD ALREADY PLOTTED FOR A FEE OF $500.00. WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MARL AND PUTTING IN THE BOUNDARIES FOR THE ROAD.
