~leeting called to order by President Sweatt.
Those present were Mayo~ Shaffer,President Sweatt,Councilmen,Sembler,Elllngsen,
Dahlstrom and Nash. James T.Vocelle City ~ttorney also present.
There being no alterations or corrections the minutes of the last r~eeting were
approved as read.
Bills 'amounting to Three Hundred One Dollars ~nd fourteen Cents approved by the
Finance Committee were ordered paid on motion by Oouncilman Nash and. se. tended by Council-
~mn Dahlst rom.Carried.
Dr Kelso and ~'r Ha~lden ~,,~A.,.::,O~,A~ of the Health Unit were on hand to dieuuss the
depositing of dead fish in the Indian Hiver,and stated that the Sanitary Department
would stand back of the City of Sebastian, if and ~hen such evidence ~s ~he law
required could be obtained to procure conviction.
As tO the laundry agency being i~'~ the same store wher they sold ice cream and
candy, Dr Kelso stated that th~-y were not able to find anything in the code that would
warrent 'the~ to rule otherwise.
~lr Paul Stevenson set in with the Council and discussed the possibility of
building a public dock on the City of Sebastian owned property on the Indian River
opposite lot 13 block 5 of Edgewater Park Subdivision,and the City ~ttorney advised the
City Council that there was ~o agreement betweenthe City and Mr Stevenson that 'could be
drawn up that would assure t~e City of no liability in case of .a law suit. The Clerk ~
then inszructed to secure iniormatio.n on Insurance to the City to cover accidents tha~
~lght arise through the use of the dock b'y the public.Price to be secueed on $25,000.~
$50,000.00 and $1000.000.00. Clerk was also instructed to secure price of additional "'
Insurance on the Cub Tractor in~ conjunction with the ~'ire '£ruck.
Councilman Nash stated that the children were still riding their bicycles at
night without the proper lights and reflectors and the ~ayor said that he would set a
dead line on the w~rnings to the children.
The City Council discussed parking of truck between the curb and the sidewalk
on First street and decided that said trucks could park on main street Just east of the
FECRy depot and by so pa~king would save the tree lawn between curb and sidewalk from
b~ei~.~ cut up.~Mayor Shuffler s~aid, h?would instruct .~he O~ficer~to notify parties interested
Mayor Shaffer suggested to the City Council that the Officer if allowed to
work extra time and ~e paid at the same rate per hour for such work as his pay calls
for that the City might secure more revenue from some of the night violators.
It w~s moved by Councilman Ellingsen and seconded by Councilman Dahlstrom to try out
the ~iayors request for a period of time anddsee what results could be obtained.
Councilmen votin~ for W~e Councilmen Sembler,Dahlstrom,Nash and Ellingsen.
Councilman Swea~t voted against.
There being no more business Councilman Sembler moved to adjourn and was
seconded Oy Councllfnan Dahlstrom. ~
