Meeting was called to order .by President Sembler.
Those present were Mayor Taylor,President Sen~bler and Councilmen Nash,Chesser and
Ellingson.Councilman Benschop absent.
Minutes of the last Regular meeting of May 14,1956 was approved as read.
Bills amounting to Three Hundred Twenty Six dollars and Thirty cents ($326.30) was
approved by the Finance Committee and authorized~to be paid on motion by Councilman Chesser,
seconded by Councilman Ellingson.Carried.
President Sembler appointed Councilsan Nash and Ellingson on a Committee to inGuire
as to the best deal the City could make on a new tractor.
City Clerk was instructed by the Council to contact proper R.R.0fficials as to the
installation of.Signal lights at the 2nd Street crossing.
Fire Chief,Jack Vickers was ~ven permission by the Council to remove a cabbage tree
by the Fire House in order to install a fire siren.
City Clerk informed the Council of th~ need of a new Seal for the City.Councilman
Ellingson made a motion the City buy the new Seal,seconded by Councilman Nash. Carried.
Mayor Taylor informed the Council of his appointment of Carl Pease as a substitute
?olice~an for three days during John Merrils absence.
Mayor Taylor read the T~olice report for the month of May.
Mayor Taylor asked the Council to increase the Policeman salary to Three Hundred
dollars per month. CounciLman Ellingson made a motion for this increase in salary,sec
by Councilman Chesser. Carried.
President Sembler appointed Councilman Ellingson to aid City Clerk in the Assessment'
of property.
President Sembler appointed Councilmen Ellingson & Naah as a Committee of two to
meet with the Fire Dept. to discuss ways and m~.'eans of housing the new Fire Truck.
Councilman Che6s~r made a motion to adjourn,sec by Councilman Ellingson. Carried.

Special Meeting June 18,1956
Meeting was called to order by ?resident Sembler.
Those present were ~yor Taylor,President Sembler and Councilmen Nash,Chesser and.
Ellin~son.Councilman Benschop absent.
The purpose of this meeting was for the determination of a location for a new
City Hall and the type of structure and also for the purpose of discussing a com-
nmnication system for the Police Dept.
The Police communication system was agreed to be tabled by the Council U~L~til such
time the Mayor presented further information as to co~1~and installation of the radio.
President Sembler appointed Councilman Ellingson~the building committee of the
new City Hall.
The Council selected the North West corner of the City Park as the site for a new
City Hall and Fire Dept.
City Clerk was instructed by President Sembler to call Commissioner Graves and
arrange a meeting for the discussion of the valuation of the present City Hall. '~'he type of building for the new Hall was tabled until a later date.
Councilman Ellingson made a Eotion to adjourn,seconded by Councilman Nash. Carried.
