HomeMy WebLinkAbout06231952Regular Mee ting June 23,1952. Meeting called t9 order by President Sweatt. Those present were Mayor Shaffer,President Sweatt ,Cponcilmen,Ellingsen,Dahlstrom and Nash. Minutes of the meeting of May 26th.was approved as read. Chief Adams reported to the Council that he and one other witness were subpoenaed to testify befor the Prosecuting Attorney of Indian River County as to the dead fish being emptied in the Indian River,said subpoena being asked for by the Public Health Department. Clerk quoted price of Insurance to cover Tractor and equipment to the City Council and after discussing same,no further action was taken. Cindy Council discussed the possibilities of renting the City Tractor to ~ Redfern, who after working hours would use same to mow and clean up other properties than City owned for cost of $2.50 per hour for all work done and $1.50 per hour to go to Mr Redfern and $1.00 to go to the City of Sebastian.Action was postponed until the City Attorney could be contacted and see if it was legal to rent out City property. Agent for Warren T.Zeuch Insurance reported to the Clerk that no Insurance Co would insure a dock used by the public seperate, but could ~nclude Said dock in an over-all accident insurance to cover the City in general and saldbcost would be at least $1,000.00 per year.NO further action was taken. Mr Redfern asked permission to build attachment for a rotary brush to be usen on t the City Tractor to clean City streets.Said eequest was granted on motion by Councilman Ellingsen and seconded by Councilman Nash and passed. Mayor Shaffer reported to the Council that the Police Department had grossed $4,?00.00 since December 1~,1951 to present date. Overtime working had produced $180.00 in tickets for the City and 19 1/2 hours put in working the overtime cost the 0ity$23.40 for the time worked leaving the City $156.'60. The City Council agreed to continue the Chief working extra hours at time and one half or at rate of $1.80 per hpur until the Mayor sees fit to discontinue the extra hours,saldagreement passed on motion by CoU~all~and seconded by Councilman Nash. Ellingsen There being no morevbusiness it was moved by Councilman Ellingsen to adjourn seconded by Councilman Dahlstrom. Pre~. -~o~ncilman Spec&al Meeting June 25,1952 Meeting called by Mayor to advise Council as to renting Tractor To Mr l~edfern. Meeting called to order by Prelsdent Sweatt. Those present were M~or Shaffer,President Sweatt,Councilmen,Sembler,Ellingsen, Dahlstrom and Nash. Mayor Shaffer reported to the City Council that it was legal to rent the City Tractor to Mr Redfern to be used to clean up properties in the City Of Sebastian,and said advise it was moved by Councilman Sembler and seconded by Councilman Ellingsen that the Cityrent the Tractor or the Gravely depending which was needed for the sum of One dollarvper hour th Mr Redfern and to be used after his regular working hours.Mr Redfern to make minor repairs on his own time,and said equipment to be used within the City limits only.Said motion carried. It was moved by ~ouncilman mlllngsen and seconded 0y ~ouncllman ~ash that the Olerk order 50 ft. of tile for drain ditch on O.S.1 and martin Ave.~arried. ~lerk will buy tile that is the cheapest,whether steel pipe or concrete and to check with the State ~oad 0epartment as to whether 1~" tile passes State specifications. Councilman ~llingsen extended his appreciation for services rendered by Police oepartment in sickness of his Wife.
