I~'leeting was called to order by President Sembler.
Those present were Mayor Taylor,President Sembler end Councilmen Nash and Elllngson. ~
Councilmen Chesser and Benschop absent.
Minutes of the last Regular meeting of June 11,19§6 and Special called meeting of
June 18,1956 were approved as read.
wayBills amounting to Six Hundred Eighty Seven dollars and Seventy Four cents ($687.74)
was approved by the Finance Committee end authorized to be paid on motion by Council-
man Ellingson, se conded by Councilman Nash.Carried.
The Clerk presented the 1956 Tax Roll before the Equalization Board and there being
no complaints from Tax payers,the Tax Roll was approved by the Boardgn motion by Council-
man Nash, seconded .by Councilman Ellingson.Carried. ~
~yor Taylor read a letter from Mr .Parker ,Assistant Supt. of F.E.C.Rallroad suggest-
ing the City close Second Street.
The Clerk was instructed to write Mt.Parker that the City would not close 2nd Street
and recuested the Railroad to put stop signs on the East and West sides of of the Track.
~ayor Taylor proposed a communication system for the /~olice Dept.This matter was
tabled until such a time a demonstration of this Co~icator was made.
Councilman Nash presented to the Council two price lists of Tractors.One Ford and
one International.
The Council agreed to have a special meeting with the Representatives of these two
Companies as soon as possible.
Councilman Ellingson told the Council that Commissioner Graves would like for the
City to set a price on the City Hall.
Councilman Ellingson made a motion that the City ask Ten Thousand dollars ($10 )
for the City Hall and Lot.Seconded by Councilman Nash. Carried.
The Clerk was instructed to write a letter to the County Commissioners of the
decision.
Councilman Nash reported to the Council that the equipment house and fire e~ine stall
has been erected 8nd now in use.
Councilman Ellingson made a motion to condemn Mrs.Meta Chesser's house on the corner
of Louisiana Ave and Palmetto Streets for.the lack of proper sanitation facilities.Sec.
by Councilman Nash.Carried.
Mayor Taylor recommended the City hire James A.Pease as a full time policeman,his
salary to be set by the M~yor.A motion to this effect was made by $ouncilman Nash,see.
by Councilman Ellingson.Carried.
Councilman Nash made a motion to adjourn,seconded by Councilma~ Ellingson.Carried.
