The meeting was called to order by the President of the Council, J. R.
Middleton, with the following members present:

Counei~ Tillis was absent.
The minutes of the Regular meeting of.July 4th were read and approved as
corrected.
The special purpose of the meeting was to have th~ second reading of the
Ordinance governing the sale of alcoholic beverages within the City of Seb-
astian between certain hours on Sunday.
A motion was made by Councilman Hardee and seconded by Councilman Smith
that the ordinance be left to the next regular meeting in order that there
might be a more .complete. attendance.. The motion was carried.
A motion was made bY Councilman Shaw and seconded by Councilman Hardee
that the meeting adjourn. The motion was carried, and the meeting adjourned.

SPECIAL MEETING AUGUST 4, 1944
The meeting was called to order by the President of the Council, J. R.
Mlddleton, with the following members present:
Mayor: E.W. Vickers
Councilmen: Middleton, Hardee, Shaw, Smith, Tlllls
Clerk: Jeans $. Klender
The minutes of the special meeting of July 11 were read and approved as
read.
A motion was made by Councilman Shaw and seconded by Councilman Hardee that
the county ta~ roll be consulted for the Erickson property and that the city taz
apportionment by segregated according to the same percentage. The moti on was
carried.
A motion was made by Councilman Hardee and seconded by Councilman Tillfs
that the Council waive the rules and have the ordinance for the sale of alcoholic
beverages read for the third time by tit~e only. The motion was carried and the
clerk read the ordinance by title.

AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE HOURS OF SALE OF AI.OOHOLIC BEVERAGES ON SUNDAY
WITHIN THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN;, .FLORIDA,' AI~ PROHIBITING
SALE OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES WITHIN SAID CITY BETWEEN CERTAIN HOURS ON SU~DAY;
PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR THE VIOLATION HEREOF:
The Clerk called the roll for voting on the ordinance. The vote was as
follows:
AYES: Hardee, Tillis
NAYS: Shaw, Smi th
There being a tie the chair decided the issue by voting: AYE
The ordinance was passed by the Ccaxncil.
A motion was made by Councilman Shaw and seconded by Councilman Smith that
the resignation of Jeane Klender as City Clerk be accepted. The motion was

A motion was made by Councilman Shaw and seconded by Councilman Smith that
Mrs. Elizabeth Rose be appointed to fill the unfinished term of City Clerk for
1944. The motion was carried.
A motion was made by Councilman Shaw and seconded by Councilman Smith that
the meeting adjourn. The motion was carried and the meeting was adjourned'"
