COUNCILMAN VOTAPKA REPORTED THAT HE HAS COMPLETED THE CIVIL DEFENSE BUDGET AND TURNED IT IN ON
JULY 2, i982.
COUNCILMAN SCHUM REPORTED THAT THE BLUE PRINTS FOR THE BARBER STREET FIREHOUSE HAVE BEEN COMPLETED
AND THAT THE CONSTRUCTION ENGINEER WILL REVIEW THEM SO CONSTRUCTION CAN BEGIN SOON. HE ALSO RE-
PORTED THAT THE NEW SYSTEM OF REROUTING WELL WATER TO THE SEBASTIAN HIGHLANDS SWIM LAKE WOULD BE
IMPLEMENTED SOON.
AFTER A BRIEF DISCUSSION REGARDING THE DIVING ACCIDENT AT THE SEBASTIAN HIGHLANDS SWIM LAKE, MAYOR
FLOOD RECOMMENDED THAT THE COUNCIL CONSIDER THE POSSIBLITY OF REMOVING THE DOCK TO PREVENT BATHERS
FROM DIVING AND THAT THIS WOULD BE AN AGENDA ITEM AT THE NEXT REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING, JULY 21, 1982.

MAYOR FLOOD REPORTED THAT AN APPRAISAL OF $12,000.00 WAS RECEIVED FOR THE CITY'S PROPERTY, LOT
17, BLOCK 4, SEBASTIAN GROVE ESTATES, THAT MR. O'NEAL IS INTERESTED IN PURCHASING OR LEASING FROM
THE CITY. HE RECOMMENDED THAT SINCE IT IS JUST ONE LOT AND IT IS SURPLUS PROPERTY OWNED BY THE

MAYOR FLOOD REQUESTED THAT COUNCILMAN SCHUM ATTEND THE PRELIMINARY BUDGET HEARING TO BE HELD FRIDAY,
JULY 16, 1982, 9:30 A.M., IN CITY HALL, TO DISCUSS THE RECREATION BUDGET WITH THE FINANCE COMMITTEE
AND HIMSELF.
COUNCILMAN SCHUM PROPOSED THAT THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN GIvE SERIOUS CONSIDERATION TO INSTALLING AN
OLYMPIC SIZE SWIMMING POOL IN THE CITY. HE FEELS THE PEOPLE OF SEBASTIAN NEED IT FOR EXCERCISE AND
HEALTH PURPOSES AND REQUESTED THAT HE BE GIVEN A CHANCE TO DISCUSS THIS FURTHER WITH THE MAYOR AND
COUNCIL.
AFTER SOME DISCUSSION ABOUT AVAILABLE FINANCING AND A POSSIBLE LOCATION OF A MUNICIPAL SWIMMING
POOL, MAYOR FLOOD EXPLAINED THAT A BONDING ISSUE WOULD BE NECESSARY IN THE NEAR FUTURE FOR WATER
AND SEWER FIRST AND THE POSSIBLY A SWIMMING POOL SECONDARY.
