THE DEPUTY CITY CLERK READ THE NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AS IT APPEARED IN THE VERO BEACH PRESS
JOURNAL, JULY 31, 1983 AND AUGUST 7, 1983 TO CONSIDER A PROPOSED RATE INCREASE FOR THE
FRANCHISE HELD BY JONES INTERCABLE BY INCREASING THE MONTHLY RATE OF SERVICE FROM $8.50 PER
MONTH AND PROPOSED TO INCREASE TO $9.25 PER MONTH.
JUSTMENT FEE OF $.075~ PER MONTH FOR THE NEW CARRIAGE OF NTBS, CHANNEL 17, FROM ATLANTA.
IN CALCULATING THIS ADJUSTMENT FEE, HE STATED THAT HISTORICAL DATA WAS USED FROM SUBSCRIBER
LEVELS OF 1982 AND THAT THE COPYRwI, G~T AIX~U~F~ YrSTSPECIFICALLY AIMED AT OFFSETTING

MORE MONEY THAN WAS NEEDED TO BRI~AC~TBS.--MAYO~LOOD FELT THAT JONES INTERCABLE WAS
PUTTING THE BURDEN OF KEEPING CHANNEL 17 ON THE AIR TO THE TAX PAYERS, RATHER THAN
ABSORBING SOME OF THE COST THEMSELVES. ~D ~E NUMBER OF SUBSCRIBERS IN SEB~TIAN,
MAYOR FLOOD STATED THAT THE RATE INCRE~SN ~HgULD~T EXCEED 3.75% ON AN INDIVZDUAL BILL B~IS.
MR. CHARLES RAILEY, EASTER DIVISION, VIC5 PR3SID~T, JONES INTERCABLE, ATLANTA, GA. STATED
THAT THE CALCULATION USED FOR THE PROP~ R~T~ ~NCREASE WAS JUST A SIMPLIER WAY TO PROCESS
THROUGH THEIR DATA PROCESSING SYSTEM. ~SO~NTIONED THAT THE ~JUSTMENT RATE CAN BE TIED IN
WITH THE COUNTY AND CANNOT BE IMPLEMENTED WITHOUT THE OTHER. MR. RAILEY STATED THAT HE WOULD MEET
CITY CLERK MAYOR
