YON 96 Councilman Park introduced thc following resolution: Whereas, financial conditions throughout the United States are very unfavorable ~nd the people of this City, in comr~on with other commu~iti-os are suffering tho effects o~.~ financial depression; and, ~hereas, public officials and public bodies should m~ke every' ~of'fort to assist the citizens of the co~m'~ni'ties they repr~sent in relieving financial distress and in reducin~-~ expense, s that must be borne Oy the Citizens and, ~creas, the City of Sebasti~'~, Florida, and the citizens thereof ~rc payin~ lar:~e sums for el~.~ctric ~rrent for the purposes of lifjh-ting their dw~,:~llings, for hea"tinC and cookin~z and for other us~:~s; and, ~oreas, it is the opinion of tho City Council of tko City of Sebastian, Florida, t~'t the Florid. a ~owor & Light Company could make a reduction in its char~cs to the City of Sebastian and to citizens of s:~id City, and yet make a fair profit upon its invest~t; therefore, Be it resolw:~d that thc City Council of the Ci~ of ~cbastian, Florida, does hereby re~.~uest the Florida Power & Light Company to make a reduction of electric rates char.~ed to every individual con~mmer in the City of Sebastian, Florida ~d also a reduction, in tho rates char~'.-od 'to tho City for $'trcet lighting purposes; Be it furt'hcr r~osolvod t~t the Cl~rk of the ~t~f o~ oobastian bo hereby instructed to forward a co!.~Y of this resolution to ~a~ ~lorida Pow~er g~ Light Company. Sanitary - 200.00 Street Lights 11-i6.00 Be It t~rther resolved, that the City Council of ~h~ City of Sebastian docs deter~._ine that the amount to be raised for all municipal purposes for 'the fiscal ~ar 19~0-1921 by taxation for the ye:~r 1~30, is the sum of '$8520.00, and t~t in order to provide the funds necessary for this purpose that thc rate of ta×ation for the said city .for the year 1930 s~mll be 10 mills on the dillar assessed value of the tax:~ble property within said City; 5.76 mills of said 10 mills being for the pf~rpose of providing, funds for the general fund; 3.85 mills of the said 10 mills b(;inc for the pdrpose of retirin(~ of prin- cipal and interc, st on £1cctric Light and Ice Pl~nt Bonds; and .39 mills for the purpose of public amused, eat :md entertairnuent, publicity and advcrtis.cn:cnt of said City'. Be It Further resolved, that the City attorney of said City be, and he is hereby instructed to prepare tax ordinance in accordancb her~:v~ith.
