Those present were hiayor Shaffer,President Taylor a~'~.d Councilmen Sembler,Ellingsen, Chesser and Snowden, Minutes of the last r~gularm~eting of August 9th and Special called meeting of August 19th.were approved as read. Bills 'amountihg to $291.27 approved by the finance committee were authorized to be paid on motion by Councilman Ellingsen ahd seconded by Councilman Snowden.Carried. It was moved by Councilman Snowden that low compression .motors owned by the City use regular gasoline instead of high test.Said motion was seconded by Councilman Elllngsen and carried. Buildin~ permit presented by Mr S.A.Park for car-port to be built on his property on South Central,was authorized by motion by Councilman Ellin~sen and seconded by CounciLman Snowden and. carried. Councilman Ellingsen reported that some party~asked permission from Mr Paul Stevenson to occupy the old house MRPfaff used to live in and Mr Stevenson refused on ground of conflictin~ with the sanatary ordinance. A discussion arose as'to the placing of the two pelican signs and Councilman Sembler told the Council that one of the signs can be placed at ~:he north end of the City on his property which would be at the north side of M~s Louderml~k's property. The si~n to be placed at the south end of the City was uncertain as to Just where it would be placed as ~ J.T.Thpmpson had said that it could be placed on his property but the spot for the erection would have to be designated by Mr Thompson. Chairman Taylor told the Coincil that the City dump was in bad shape and that the people were depositing the garbage on the ground level instead of in the canal which was dredged for that purpose and that somthing should be done to improve the situation. Mrs Chesser at this point sugested a sign be made and placed at the dump warnning the public a~ainst placing garbage on the ground ~d moved that. said si~n be made,Cou$cilman Snowden seconded said motion which was carried. Councilman Snowden reported to the Council that chitd~ren.: were abusing the shuffle board equipment and suggested thatthe Chief warn the chil~l~en against improper use of said equiDment. Represetatives from the Volunteer Fire Department met with the City Council to discuss the payment of an insurance policy covering the second piece of equipment put in and after a thorough discussion it was moved by Councilman Snowden that the City use funds set up in the City budget to pay for s~mid policy.Said motion was seconded by CouncilmanChesser a:~d cart led. Ms, or Shsffer ~eported a cabbage tree on south central ave that had died and thought same should be moved,and Councilman Snowden told the Council that he would send his wrecker to remove tree to the dump hhenever City was ready to remeve said t~ee.
