meeting called t9 order 0y President. Taylor.
Th~se present were mayor Shaffer,President Taylor and 0ouncilman Sembler,Elltngsen and
Snowden.
Minutes of the last regular meeting were approved as read.
Bills amounting to $20.61 approved by the finance committee were authorized to 'Ce paid
on motion by Councilman mll$~gsen and seconded by councilman Sembler.Carried.
Three applications we~'presented for he positionas street and park laborer and
it was moved by Counci~n that in as much as Councilman Taylor would be in charge of the
City man that he be given authority to hire the person to fill such position and have
full authority over whomever he hired.Said motion was seconded by Councilman Sembler and
carried.
Councilman Taylor told the Council that he was in favor of ~ir Thornton and that he
would start working Tuesday A.M. at wages of ~1.25 per hour and working 40 hours a week.
'~he wages set was agree~upon by the council and pasSed on motion by Councilman Sembler
and seconded by Uouncilman ~llingsen.

Vacation for all new employees was discussed and it was moved Dy Gouncllman Sembler
and seconded by Oouncil]'~mn Ellingsen that an employee would receive one week vacation with
pay after.said employee had worked for the City one year and two weeks vacation with pay
after the second year.~arried.
The ~hurch of ~od asked the Council permission to remove the curbing in front of the
~hurch on ~orth Uentral the ful± width of Zne church lot which is 100 feet,said permission
was granted on motion by ~ouncilman ~llingsen and seconded ~y Councilman Snowden. Carried.
President Taylor brought up the subject of trim~img of the trees where they inter~ere
with power Lines and it was suggested that ~ Oweatt De contacted and see if the company
that trims trees for the ~'lorida ~ower ~ Light would trim the trees in front of
Stevenson's home on north uentral Ave. it was also agreed for the committee to meet
Wednesday afternoon and go over zhe property next to Steve ~udd's property to strike up
a level and see what can be done as to draining off escess water after rains.
After considerable discussion on occupational licenses and building code it was agreed
to contact the Attorney and have something prepaired for the next meeting.
There being nS more business to come Defore ~he council meeting was duly adjourned.

and Snowden.
Minutes of the last meeting of Sep't 27,1954 were approved as read.
Bills amounting to $333.55 approved 'by the finance committee were authorized to be paid
on motion by Councilman Ellingsen and seconded by Councilman Sembler.With the ezception of
one bill of $69.09 which was ordered held 'out to be investigated by Councilman Snowden.
Building permit application presented by ~ Patterson for a ~ingle home 29 ~ 28 was
passed by motion by Cguncilman zllingsen and seconded by ~ouncilman Snowden.
Dlader uomEittee reports Mrs Chesser reported that the Cemetery needed mowing and asked
why city property on N.Central in front of i¥~ Frank Vickers had not been mowed.Councilman
Taylor said that he would investigate.
Signs for the City Park.City ~mp and Business section were reported all in place.
A resolution passed by the Lantana City Council pertaining to Municipalities receiving
monies from the gasoline tax for the upkeep of City streets was read and after some discussion
and certain objectionable points brought out,resolution was tabled.
City Attorney Walker discussed Occupational licenses with the City Council and it was
Moved by Councilman Snowden and seconded by Councilman Ellingsen that the Finance Committee
meet with the City Clerk and make a check as to what the City needed and report back to the
Council.Carried.
~rs Chessem told the City Council that the ~oy Scouts were raising the flag in the
~ity Park and also taking it down in the evening,and they. would receive credit or merit
marks for all service they render,all of which is connected with the ~cout work.
