THE PUBLIC HEARING WAS CALLED FOR THE PURPOSE OF BRINGING TO THE PUBLIC'S ATTENTION THE PROPOSED
ORDINANCE REVISING THE CITY CHARTER. MAYOR FLOOD STATED THE PURPOSE OF THE REVISION WAS TO BRING
THE CHARTER IN LINE WITH CURRENT FLORIDA STATUTES AND TO CHANGE THE ELECTION DATE.
MR. SZELUGA, A MEMBER OF THE AUDIENCE, SUGGESTED SEVERAL REWORDINGS, PARTICULARLY THE WORD "SHALL"
IN LIEU OF "MAY" IN MANY INSTANCES.
INASMUCH AS THE PROPOSED ORDINANCE WAS PREPARED BY MUNICIPAL CODE CORPORATION AND SEVERAL FLORIDA
STATUTES WERE QUOTED, MAYOR FLOOD AND MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL AGREED TO REFER MR. SZELUGA'S SUGGESTION
TO THE CITY ATTORNEY FOR AN OPINION.
THE CITY CLERK READ THE ADVERTISEMENT FOR BID FOR THE TRUCK HOIST WHICH APPEARED IN THE VERO BEACH
PRESS JOURNAL ON SEPTEMBER 17 AND 27, 1978. NO BIDS WERE RECEIVED.
THE CITY CLERK READ THE ADVERTISED BID FOR A SPRINKLER SYSTEM AT THE SEBASTIAN CEMETERY, AND
STATED THREE SEALED BIDS HAD BEEN RECEIVED.

JORDAN SPRINKLER SYSTEMS, INC ................... $2,800.00
KREBS SPRINKLER SYSTEM ......................... $2,800.00
MR. SANDERS, REPRESENTING THE VERO BEACH WATER SYSTEMS, CHALLENGED THE BID BY JORDAN SPRINKLER
SYSTEMS, INC. FOR $2,800 STATING THAT HIS COMPANY'S BID WAS MORE INCLUSIVE AND SUGGESTED THE
PROJECT BE READVERTISED WITH MORE DETAILED SPECIFICATIONS.
