MAYOR CRAGG CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 7 P.M.
PRESENT: VICE MAYOR GRAY, COUNCILMEN CLIFFORD HOOSE AND RICHARD SZELUGA, AND MAYOR CRAGG.
(COUNCILMAN JOHN R. JOACHIM EXCUSED.)
MOTION BY VICE MAYOR GRAY, SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN SZELUGA, THAT THE "CONSENT TO ASSIGNMENT"
OF LEASE WITH JACOBSON AIR-AG BE APPROVED. CARRIED.
MOTION BY VICE MAYOR GRAY, SECONDED BY COUNCILMAN SZELUGA, THAT THE LEASE WITH JACOBSON AIR-AG, INC.
FOR SPACE AT SEBASTIAN AIRPORT, BE APPROVED. CARRIED.
CHIEF CUMMINS REPORTED THE STATUS OF COST FOR REPLACEMENT OF WRECKED 1976 DODGE POLICE CAR. THE COST
TO THE~'~I~Y..'~$5,204.30 WITH 30 DAY (OR LESS) DELIVERY. THE INSURANCE COMPANY (AETNA) HAS AGREED
TO ALLOW THE CITY A MINIMUM OF $4,450.00 PLUS $600 FOR THE RADIO, FOR A TOTAL OF $5,050.00.
THERE WERE SEVERAL ITEMS IN THE CAR WHICH WERE DAMAGED, BUT BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT PERMANENTLY ATTACHED,
THE INSURANCE COMPANY WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR THEM.
MOTION BY COUNCILMAN HOOSE, SECONDED BY VICE MAYOR GRAY, TO AUTHORIZE THE POLICE CHIEF TO PROCEED WiTH
NEGOTIATIONS TO ORDER THE 1977 DODGE TO REPLACE THE 1976 DODGE. CARRIED.
MR. ROSS, CITY CAB OF VERO BEACH, INC., APPEARED AT THE MEETING AT THE REQUEST OF THE CITY TO DISCUSS
FURTHER THE ISSUANCE OF A CERTIFICATE OF CONVENIENCE AND NECESSITY BY THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN. THE
ORIGINAL MOTION TO ISSUE SUCH A CERTIFICATE WAS BASED ON FACTS PRESENTED AT THE COUNCIL MEETING OF
OCTOBER 11, 1976; HOWEVER, DUE T/O-~DI~N~O~N SUBMITTED, THE MATTER WAS DISCUSSED FURTHER

IN RESPONSE TO A LETTER RECEIVED BY V~Y~Y CONCERNING THE NEED FOR A BICYCLE RACK
OF THE SCHOOL CHILDREN, THE DISCUSSIO~ AROSE A~ TO THE FEASIBILITY OF PURCHASING A RACK - OR RACKS -
ONE TO BE PLACED IN THE REAR OF THE GDC SALES O~ICE FOR THE CHILDREN'S USE. AFTER CONSIDERING THE
MATTER, MAYOR CRAGG SUGGESTED HE GET rN ?OUCF ~I-TH THE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOLS TO SEE iF THE SCHOOL
BUS COULD ENTER THE HIGHLANDS TO PICK~U~T~E C~ILDREN, WHICH WOULD BE FAR SAFER THAN HAVING THEM
CROSS THE RAILROAD TRACKS AND US HWY 9'i----"IN~E MEANTIME, THE PURCHASE OF A BICYCLE RACK WILL BE HELD
IN ABEYANCE.
