COUNCILMAN VALLONE ADVISED COUNCIL THAT THE REASON THIS CAME TO COUNCIL BECAUSE A MISTAKE WAS MADE BY THE CITY IN GIVING HER PERMISSION TO PLANT THE TREE AND THE COMMITTEE SHOULD RECTIFY THE MISTAKE. VICE MAYOR ROTH STATED THAT HE WOULD RESIGN AS GOLF COURSE LIAISON IF REQUESTED. MAYOR HARRIS ASKED HIM TO CONTINUE SERVING. ~Q~KII~ MATTER~ NONE. JIMMY GOFF OF POST, BUCKLEY ANSWERED QUESTIONS FROM COUNCIL ON PHASE I OF THE MASTER PLAN. A LENGTHY DISCUSSION TOOK PLACE AFTER COUNCILMAN RONDEAU QUESTIONED THE NUMBERS OF OPERATIONS AT THE AIRPORT IN THE REPORT. MR. GOFF EXPLAINED TO COUNCIL THAT SEVE WAYS TO AS FOLLOWS: POST, BUCKLE¥ COULD DO a TWO-WEEK SUHVEY, \ T~E FAA COULD DO A TWO WEEK SURVEY, OR THE CITY DO I?S OW IT O WEEK SURVEY, BUT ANY OF THESE WOULD BE VERY qO~.TL~. MH.~GOF~ ~VISED THAT IT IS WISE TO GO WITH THE HIGHER NL~S S~NC~UND~ IS BASED ON THE NUMBERS, BUT SAID THAT IF COUNCIL GAVE HIM OTHER FIGURES HE'D PUT THEM iN. EARL MASTELLER STATED THAT T~E STUDY SUFFERS CREDIBILI~ A~ SAID HE FELT THE PUBLIC SHOUL~E~UT ON THIS PHASE. JOHN VAN ANTWE~ STATED THAT IF THE NIGH NqMBERS ARE USED IT DOES NOT LOCK THE CITY IN BUT ~LOWS THE CI~ ~KE CHANGES ~EN AND IF THEY ARE NEEDED. F~ DEJOIA SkID H3 ~WAS DISAPPOINTED THAT THERE WAS NO PUBLIC iNPUT ON THIS----~E~ ~ROGER COOPER AND MICHAEL KENNEY STATED CONCERNS FOR SAFE~A~CRAFT DUE TO THE CONDITION OF THE AIRPORT AND AGREED WITH THE REPORT. GEORGE METCALF AGREED MOTION ~Y C~NCI~ V~N~ ~ IN~RUCT JI~MM ~OFF,~TD SUBMIT ~O~IO~D~ ~0~ ~C~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ATTORNEY PALMER STATED THAT THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION HAD PASSED A MOTION TO ATTEMPT TO GET 385 ACRES OF LAND AT THE AIRPORT RELEASED FOR OTHER THAN AIRPORT RELATED INDUSTRY AND OTHER USES. HE ALSO STATED, FOR THE RECORD, THAT THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME HE HAD HEARD ASSERTIONS THAT THE AIRPORT WAS UNSAFE. MOTION BY COUNCILMAN MCCARTHY, SECONDED BY VICE MAYOR ROTH, TO TABLE UNTIL COUNCIL RECEIVES THE LETTER FROM THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION REGARDING FEASIBILITY OF RELEASE OF AIRPORT ACREAGE. ROLL CALL VOTE: AYES: VICE MAYOR ROTH COUNCILMAN MCCARTHY COUNCILMAN RONDEAU MAYOR HARRIS NAYS: COUNCILMAN VALLONE VICE MAYOR ROTH JIMMY GOFF.
