HomeMy WebLinkAbout11071960Special Meeting November 7, 1960 Meeting was called to order by President Sembler. Those present were Mayor Rohm, President Sembler and Councilman Finnegan, Nash, Baxter and Brehmer. A Civil~fense disaster plan for the City of Sebastian was presented to the Council~doption. Councilman Nash made a motion to adopt the Civil Defense disaster plan, seconded by councilman Brehmer, carried. Clerk read a letter of resignation from City Engineer, James ~. Darling,r-~ also a letter indicating f~es in the amount of $452.29 due him for past services rendered to the City of Sebastian. Clerk was instructed to acknowledge receipt of City Engineer's letter in reference to fees for past s~rvices rendered to the City and to inform him that the Council would discuss this matter at the time he and Carter Engineer's settled the discrepany in a boundary line dispute of the North line of the Sebastian Cemetery. Councilman Baxter made a motion to accept City Engineer's resignation, to become effective on November ll, 1960, seconded by Councilman Brehmer, carried. The Finance Committee recommended the employment of a full time secretary- for the City Cl~rk. Councilman Baxter made a motion to accept Finance ~ommittee recommendation on this matter, seconded by Councilman Finnegan. Councilman Nash and Brehmer opposed, motion was ~arried. City Clerk was instructed to advertise for a secretary on a forty hour week basis. Councilman Baxter reported that a two-way radio could be purchased through Civil Defense at a cost of $595.75 and the Civil Defense would bear hald of this cost. Also, that the City would be allowed $225.75 for their present radio, which would require the City to pay $72.62 for ~ new radio. Councilman Brehmer made a motion to purchase a new r~dio through Civil Defense at the figures quoted by Councilman BaXter, seconded by Councilman Finnegan, carried. Councilman B~xter made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Councilman B~ehmer, carried. President o~ Council
