Councilman Oahlstrom absent. minutes of.~the last .meeting were approved as read. Hey. Martin of ~he Methodist church in ~ebastian,nev.~ioore of the Baptist Church in Sebastian and ~ev. Lewis of the ~ommunity ~hurch of vero ~each met with the ~ity Gouncil and ney.Lewis told the Council that the ~ounty and the ~ity of Yero t~each had been contacted as to closing ~he ~ars on Sunday and at this meeting ~ev.Lewis wasLLadvised that the Bars in Yero Beach did not want to close as long as Sebastian was open. The City (~ouncll told the Committee that the o~ly way they they would take action was,if it was put to a vote of the citizens of Sebastian. There being ho committee reports other than the Police ~epartment meeting was adjourned in due form. Clerk ~re's. council ~egular Eeeting November 10,1952. Minutes of the last meeting were approved as read. Bills amounting to ~355.79 approved by finance committee were prdered paid on motion by uouncilman nllingsen and seconded by uouncilman /~ash. carried. The Clerk was instructed to write a letter to the ~'.E.C.Ry ~ompany and ask that the Main ~treet crossing be widened to 25 feet ~enever the Hy Company have work to do on said crossing. A petition was presented to the city council requesting the Council to permit the qualified ~oters of the City of Sebastian to express their opinion at the City Election to be held on December 8,1952 as to whether or not the sale of alcholic beverages should be prohibited on Sunday. Whereupon, Councilman Sembler offered the following Hesolution. Be it Resolved by the City council of the Oity of Sebastian,that at the City ectlon to be held in said Oity on December 8,19§2,that She following questions be ~itted to the Electors: For the sale of alcholic beverages in the City on Sunday. ' Against the sale of alcholic beverages in the City on Sunday ~ The above nesolution was accepted on motion by Councilman Sembler and seconded Oouncilman ~ash.ca tried. It was moved by 0ouncilman Nash and seconded by councilman ~lllngsen that the following ~esolution be accepted, Whereas, as provided by the Charter and Ordinance of the City of Sebastian,~'lorida, a general ~lection will Oe held in the 01fy of Sebastian on the 8th day of December,1952, for the purpose of electing three members of the city Council to serve for the two(2) years next thereafter; and, Whereas, petitions for the nomination of Candidates have been $lled with'the'Olty,~ and h~v$ found in proper form and of proper content as provided by law whereby the following persons have been nominated as condidates at said election as follows: For members of the City ~ouncll Harry ~ohannon ~arl L.Hoberts Charles W.Sembler George L.Sweatt C.E.Taylor Meeting November 10,1952 continued.~ therefore, BE iT RESOLVED, that the Gity Glerk of this City is herewith instructed to cause to be prepalred the necessary ballots for holding of such election and to ha~ pr&hied thereon the names of the above designated persons as candidates for the respective offices for ~which they ahve been nominated. ~E IT FURTHER HESOLVED, that the City Hall of the City of Sebastian,~lorl~a, is herewith designated as the polling place for the 'holding of such election and that t the polls will ppen on such election day from ?:00 o'clock A.M. until 7:00 o'clock P.M. BE IT ~'URTHER RESOLVED that Viola ~'oster. _._~e Lawson and _P.P,Lawson be and the s~me are herewith appointed as inspectors and James H.Pennington~ be and is herewith appointed as clerk of said elect~on to conduct the same and to report and certify the results thereof to this city Council and the City clerk is directed to notify said persons of their appointment as such election officials. ~E IT ~'URTHER RESOLVED, that the ~ity ~lerk and the officials of this Oity are authorized and instructed to do any and all acts neccessary to the carrying out of said election and all as provided by law. Said motion and second on above resolution was carried unanimously. It was moved by ~uncllman Sembler and seconded by ~ouncilman ,,.llingsen that the following resolution be accepted. nESOLUTION WHEREAS, the ~ity ~ouncll of the city of sebastian,duly assembled in regula~ session,has examined the list of gegistered voters of the city and has determined does hereby determln and order that the names of the following persons registered as voters on said list be removed and for the respective causes set out opposite such re spe ct lye name s, t o-wi t: Na~ oause Of removal ,;.
