HomeMy WebLinkAbout12081941way of State Road Number 4 in Indian River County, Florida, to the shore line of the Indian River in the City of Sebastian, l~lorida and Whereas said street has not been used by the City of Sebastian, Florida, nor by the public as a public street or thoroughfare and she properties immediate- ly adjacent to said street are owned by one and the same individual and it being appropriate 4o to do; therefore, BE IT RESOLVED that the C~ ~y of Sebastian, Florida does herewith vacate that certai~ stre~t within said city designated ~nd known as Jefferson Stree~ as to All of that p~rtion thereof ex~ending from the e~st boundary line of the existing right-of-way of State Road No. 4 in an easterly direction to the Indian River; that the officers of this city be and there are herewith authorized and instructed to execute and deliver in the name of the city and under its seal such evidences of the vacating of said street and. the releasing of all rights of this city in and to said street so Emcated to the owner of the prop~0rties adja- cont to said street, as may be necessary. The Chairman appointed Mr. Middleton as chairman of the beautification committee, Members Mr. Shaw, Mr. Hamri~k and Mr. Vickers ex officio. BE IT FURTHMR MESOLV:~D That the City Hall in the place of business of F. G. Hamrick in the City of Sebastian, Florida, is herewith designated as the polling place for the holding of such election and that the polls for such elec- tion shall be open on the day thereof from the hour of 8:00 o'clock A. M. until sundown of said day. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That G. A. Braddock, S. A. Braswell amd Frank Latourette, be and ~he same are appointed as inspectors and P.P. Lawson as Clerk in said election to conduct the same and that the City Clerk is herewith directed to notify said election officials of their appointment. Upon motion the meeting adjourned to Decenber~, 1941. Adjourned Regular Meeting, December 8, 1941 Meeting was called to order with the following members present: Mayor Baughman, Councilmen Vickers, ~mith, Shaw, Middleton and Attorney Woods. The returns of the general City election held at Sebastian, Indian River Countu, Florida, on December 8, 1941, wigmed by the Clerk and a majority of the lnspedtors of said election were received by the City Council and filed with the City Clerk. r The City Council proceeded to canvass the returns and ~he result of said elec- tion as shown by said returns, and thereipon Councilman Smith introduced the fol- lowing resolut ion: WHEREAS, it appears from the returns of the general city election held December 8, 1941, duly certified in duplicate by the Clerk and a majority of the inspectors of said election, and one delivered by such inspectors and Clerk to the President of the City Council amd the other to tt,e City Clerk, and by him transmitted to the City Council, that votes cawt at said election were as follows: For MAyor: L. 0. Baughman received 16 votes; For members of ~he City Council, two to be elected: B.E. Shaw received 16 votes; E.W. Vickers received 15 votes; and WH~ the City Council has canvassed the returns and the results as shown bff the certificate of the Clerk and Inspectors of the election aforesaid and has found the same correct; therefore. BE IT RESOLVED, that the results of the general city election held in the City off Sebastian, Florida, on December 8, 1941, be and ~he same are her:~by detlared to be as follows: For Mayor: L. 0. Motion made, seconded and carried that Mitchell Smith and Mitchell ~e retained as counsel for the ensuing year. Motion made, seconded and carried that H. G. Deppen be engineer for ensuing year.
