Park James T. Vocelle The minutes of the regular meeting of Nov. 28 and special meeting of December 5, and 9 were read and approved. Councilman Hardee presented a letter of rasignation Councilman of the City ~f Sebastian. from T. B. Hicks as City Councilman Park moved that the resignation of T. B. Hicks as City Councilman of the City of Sebastian be accepted; which was seconded by Councilman Martin and carried by the following vote Ayes: Martin, Park, Hardee, Baughman Nays: None Councilman Martin moved that E. W. Vickers be appointed to fill the unempired term of Mr. Hicks and that nomination be closed; which was seconded 'by Councilman Hardee and carried by the following vote, Ayes; Park, Hardee, Martin and Baughman Nay s: None Mr. Vickers was notified of his appointment and appeared at this time. t~he returns of the general City election held &~ Sebastian, Indian River Count~, Florida on December 12, 1932 signed by the Clerk and a majority of the inspectors of said election, were received by the City Council and filed by the City Clerk. The City Council proceeded to canvass the returns and the result of said election as shown by said returns, a_n~. thereupon Councilman Martin introduced the following resolution: -)"~ ~ \ ~ - Whereas, it appears from the returns of the general city election held December 12, 1932 duly certified in duplicate by the Clerk and a majority of the inspectors of said election and delivered by such inspectors and clerk to ~he City Clerk, and by her transmitted to the City Council, that the votes cast at said election were as follows, to-wl~:' For Members of the0%~y Council three to be elected: G. T. Glasgow received 80 votes R. G. Hardee " 73 " S. A. Park " 52 " j. B. Mays " 57 " Roy K. Fields " 73 " W. A. Martin " 55 " and Whereas, the City Council has canvassed the returns and the results as shown by the certificate of the Clerk and inspectors of the election aforesaid and has found the same correct; therefore, Be it Resolved, that the result of the general city election held in the City of Sebastian, Florida on December 12, 1932 be, and the same is hereby declared as follows: For Counci linen: g. T. Glasgow R. G. Hardee S. A. Park ~. ~. Mays Roy K. Fields W. A. Martin 80 votes 73 " 52 " 5'/ " 73 " 5,5 " and that the said G.~. Glasgow and R. G. Hardee and Roy K. Fields be, and they are hereby declared to have been duly elected councilmen of the City of Sebastian Florida, for the ensuing two years. The foregoing resolution having been put to a vote was adopted as follows: Ayes: Martin, Park, Vick~rs, Baughman and Hardee Nays: None Continuation of Regular Meeting of December 12, 1932 Oaths of office were executed by W. ,~,, Merrlman, County Judge of Indian River County, Florida, oB De~em~e~,~. G, Hardee, G. T. Glasgow and Roy K. Fields belng duly qualified to hold their respective offices for two years. The Council instructed the Clerk to change the las~ line in the above to read as follows: Being duly elected and qualified to hold their respective offices for two years. Mr. Glasgow moved that Mr. Hardee be appointed president of the City Council; which was seconded by Mr. Fields and carried by the following vote , Ayes: Vickers, Baughman, Fields, Glasgow Nays: None Mr. Hardee moved that Mr. Baughman be appointed president pro tern; which w~s_. seconded by Mr. Vickers and carried by the following vo~e, Ayes:Vtckers, Baughman, Fields Glasgow,Hardee Nays: None Mr. Baughman moved that the City retain James T. Vocelle as attorney for the ensuing year at a yearly retainer oS $400.00. Mr. Glasgow moved that retaining a city attorney be deferred until a later date; which was seconded by Mr. Fields and upon being put to a vote the same was lost by the following vote, Ayes: Glasgow and Fields Nays: Vic kers, Hardee and Baughman Councilman Vickers thereupon seconded the motion of Councilman Baughman and the same was carried by the following vote, Ayes: Vickers, Baughman, Nays: Glasgow and Fields Motion made by Councilman Baughman, seconded by Councilman Glasgow that Counci i adjourn. Motion carried. ~
