Those present were Mayor Rohme, President Sembler and Councilman Finnegan, Nash, Baxter and Brehmer. Minutes of Regular Meetings of November 14, 1960 and 28th were approved as read. Bills amounting to ~1,654.26 was approved by the Finance Committee and authorized to be on motion bY Councilman Baxter, Seconded by Co~.~cil- man Brehmer, carried. Cl~,rk read election returns of December 12, 1960, three (3) Councilman to be elected out of five (5) candidates for the Council o~ the City of Sebastian. For Member of City Council John G. Vass 97 votes 85 votes 22 votes ll2 vot~s 79 Votes Councilman Finnegan made a motion to accept the following resolution: ~,~ereas, the Inspectors and Clerk of the General City Election held in the City of Sebastian, Florida, on the 12th day of December, 1960, have made returns of said City Election as provided by laws, and, ~'~ereas, the City Co~mcil has c~nvassed the said returns and has found the same in proper form and has determined the results o£ said election to be as follows: P~R ?~RS OP CITY CO~CIL: John G. Baxter Tony DeCristofaro Richard D. Hickey Charles W. Ser~bler Leonard L. Vass 97 votes 85 votes 22 votes ll2 votes 79 votes TITEREFORE, be it resolved that it is herewith determined that John G. Baxter, Charles ~. Sembler, and Tony DeCristofaro were elected to be members of the City Council for a two (2i year term next and en- suing or until their respective successors shall be elected and qualified, said resolution was seconded by Co~nacil Nash and adopted. Co~n~cilman Baxter made a motion that the Cle~ks and Inspectors of the City Election be paid twelve (12.00~ ,~ol!ars e~ch, seconded by Council- man Nash, carried. Council~aan Brehmer stated that ~n Emergency Truck for the Volunteer Fire Department of the City of Sebastian has been approved by the Civil Defense. Clerk read correspondence from City Attorney in ref.~rence to a meeting with Cart~-,r .~ngineers and also a letter to State Road Dept. for placement of ~,~directional sign designating Sebastian Highlands. Meeting of the 01d Council was Adjourned. Meeting of the New Council was called to order. Cpuncilmen elect Sembler, Baxter and DeCristofaro was sworn in by Mayor Rohme. Councilman Baxter nominated Councilman Sembler as President of Council. There being no other nominations, the Mayor decide.red nominations closed. Councilman-~axt~r nominated Councilman Finnegan as President Pro-Tem of the Council. There beir~-~ no other nominations, Mayor declared nominations closed. Councilman Baxter made a motion to give Ex-Councilman Brehmer a vote of thanks for four consecutive years of service rende~ed to the city. This motion was seconded by Councilman Mash, carried. ~resident ~embler appointed Co~nacilman Mash as liason officer to the Volunteer Fire Department. President Sembler appointed Councilmen the following com~ittees: Finance Committee-Co~ucilmen Sembler and Finnegan Light Committee --DeCristofaro, Councilman Streets, Parks and Cemetery-Baxter, Councilman Sanitation Committee-Councilman Nash Airport Committee-Mayor Rohme and Councilmen Baxter and Sembler. -Clerk read letter of application for City Engineer from C. B. McAdam of ~t. Pierce, Florida. President Sembler reported-that he had received the annual audit report for the fiscal year ending October 31, 1960. Councilman Pinnegan recommended that the finance committee review applications on file for secretary to the City Clerk and at that time make recommendations to the council on reference to the employment of a secretary. Council agreed. Mrs. Daisy Shafor requested that the City require property o~ners of undeveloped properties to keep their lots cleared. Mrs. Sh&for was informed by the Council that the City Charter would allow the City to do this and charge all costs to City taxes on the pro~erty and that the City would get a list of the propSrty owners. Dave Hazelett inquired if the council had taken any action allowing the use of an airstrip at the Sebastian Airport for the use of drag racing. Mr. Hazelett was instructed to make application to the Airport committee and at that time the committee will meet with his club. Mayor Rohme reported to the Council of a request for additional Stree~ lights in Twin Lakes Division of the Sebastian Highlands, President Sembler recommended t~at this matter be referred to the Light comuittee.
