Special meeting called by Mayor Roberts to canvassthe results of the City Election
of December 12,1949.
President Mlddleton called the meeting to order.
Those present were Mayor Hoberts,President Midd&eton,uouncilmen Sembler,Stevenson,
netchworth and Ander son.~ll~ were present.
Councilmen R.B.Letchworth and ~.W.Sembler were appointed by President Middleton
as examiners to canvassthe results of the City Election .
The results of said election were give~ to the Ixaminers in .sealed envelope and
r~ suit s
after examining same the ~)~#covering said Election was read and accepted
upon motion by CouncllmanJSembler and seconded by ~ouncitman Letchworth.
The following resolution was accepted on motion by Oouncilman Anderson and seconded
by Councilman Let mbw0rth .The Resolution reads,
Whereas,the inspectors and clerks of the general City election held in the City of
Sebastian, ~'lorida, on December 12th,1949, have made return of the results of
said City as provided by law; and,
Whereas, this City Council has canvassed the said return and has found the same in
proper form and has determined the results of said election to be as follows:
For Mayor:

85 votes.
71 votes.
For Member of the City Council( Two to be elected):
Paul ~rehmer received
Adolf mllingsenrec eived
H.B.Letchwortk re ceived

85 votes.
51 votes.
53 votes.
Therefore,
Be IT RESOLVED, that it is herewith determined that J.R.Mlddlwton was
elected as Mayor, and R.B.Letchworth and Adolf Ellln~sen were elected as members of
the City Council of said Olty, all to serve for the term of two (2) years next
ensuing or until their respectlve~successors shall be elected and qualified.
The two elected Councilmen then took their ~ath of office and took their places.
President Mlddleton at this time tendered his resignation from the City Council
leaving a vacancy of one member on the City Council.
W.W.Park was nominated to fill said vacancy on motion by Councilman Letchworth
,w, hlch was seconded by Councilman Anderson.Carried
Councilman Park was then sworn into office and took his place at Council table.
President Mlddleton was then sworn into office and took his place at head of
Council table.The City Council then elected Councilman Anderson as Chairman of
the City Council on motion by 0ouncilman Letchworth which was seconded by
Counc~lma n Park.Carried.
President ~nderson then called for President Protem to be elected and upon
motion by Councilman Letchworth which was seconded by Councilman Ellingson
Councilman Sembler was reelected President Prote~ of the City Council.Carried.
The following committees were then appointed by The Chair,
Streets and Cemetary Councilman Sembler Chairmen and Councilman Park.
Finance- Counc ilman~.~e~c_~worth Chairmen and Councilman Park.
Sanatation- Counciln~V~airman and Councilman Elllngsen.
Lights- Councilman Ellingsen Chairman and Counc~tlman Letchworth.
Fire Department- Councilman Park.
Appraisal- Councilman Sembler chairman and C~uncilman Letchworth.
The election board were awarded five dollars each for their service ,n motion
by Councilman Ellingsen which was seconded by Councilman Sembler.Carrled.
Mr Mitchells letter concerning the refunding of the City Bonds was read and the
Clerk was instructed to write the City Attorney,Mr Mitchell a letter telling him
that the City Council willstand by the agreement which has already been agreed to.

The question arose as to compensation for the Sudge and after some discussion
it was moved by Councilman Letohworth and seconded by Councilman Elllngsen to
repeal Ordinance number 10~ covering said compensation. Carried.
There being no more bus,ness meeting adjourned.

Bills to the amount of $155.20 approved by Finance Committee were ordered paid
motion by Councilman Letchworth and leconded by Councilman Park.~arried.
Mst ion by Councilman Letchworth and seconded ~ouncilman Elllngsen to purchase lumber
and paint to finish addition of fire station. ~arried.
Motion by ~ounc~lman Sembler and seconded by ~ouncilman Letchworth to addopt resolution
allowing absentee votelng in the CitY of Sebastian at all elections after Yan.lst.1950.

Motion by 0ouncllman Ellingsen and seconded by vouncilman Letohworth to allow Mr ~tyan
two years time to enclose his trailor in home.carried.
Mayor Mlddleton asked for enough paint to mark off the driveways,for no parking and
on motion by Councilman ":lllngsen and seconded by Councilman authorized three gallon
of paint to be purchased, also to procure four drums f~r trash containers.
On motion b~ 0ouncilman Park and seconded by Oouncllman ,:llingsen Clerk was authorized
to purchase two tires for the Police Car.
It was moved by Councilman Letchworth and seconded by ~ouncilman Sembler to authorize the
Clerk to transfer $100.00 from the ~eneral ~und to the Sinking l~nd in order to make
payment o~ the inteest on City ~ondl.~arried,
