Those present were Y~yor Boone, President Sembler, Councilman Channell, Councilman DeCristofaro, Councilman Nash and Councilman Baxter. City Atty. Vocelle was also present. Attorney Charles Sullivan read an appraisal made by Mr. Jewett of Jewett Appraisal Service of Lot A, W.A.Martin Subdivision. Present market value according to Mr. Jewett is $900.00. Jack Baxter offered the City ~1500.00 for said property. Councilman Channell moved that offer be tabled until next meeting to give citizens an opportunity to bid on this property. Seconded by Councilman DeCristofaro. Carried. President Sembler appointed Councilman, the following committees: Finance Committee ,! !, Tire Department Sanitation Lights Streets & Parks Councilman Sembler, Chairman Councilman Baxter Councilman Nash Councilman Channell Councilman DeCristofaro Councilman Baxter Councilman Channell made a motion that there be appointed under Sec. 45 of the City Charter the following committees: 1. Zoning Committee consisting of 5 members. 2. Industrial committee consisting of 3 members with 2 of them to be qualified engineers. Seconded by Councilman DeCristofaro. President Sembler recommended that this matter be tabled ~til next meeting. President Sembler recommended that City Clerk be appointed. Councilman Baxter moved that it is the recommendation ~f the Finance Committee that Ruth W. Edenfield be re-appointed City Clerk. ~ Seconded by Councilman Nash. Carried. Mayor Boone recommended as Chief of Police, Fred ~. Rohme be re-appointed. Councilman Nash m~de a motion that the ~ayors recommendation be accepted, Seconded by Councilman Baxter. Carried. Mayor Boone recommended that present ~atrolmen, Fred Slough and Douglas S~vage, also relief Patrolman Edward 0'Neal stay on as they are. Councilman Nash moved that this recommendation be accepted. Seconded by Councilman Channell. Carried. Mayor Boone recommended that George Grantham be appointed Special Police. Councilman Baxter moved that the recommendation be accepted and Grantham be paid ~l.00 per year by the City. Seconded by Councilman Nash. Carried. President Sembler recommended that City buy Calculator for ~510.00 fro~ Veto Office Supply. Councilman Channell ~ade a motion that City purchase the calculator. Seconded by Councilman Mash, Carried. Councilman Nash moved that contract with Motorola for se~icing police radio be cancelled. Seconded by Councilman Baxter. Carried. Councilman Channell moved that Councilman Baxter be given power to sell radio not in use. Seconded by Councilman Nash. Carried. Councilman Channell made a motion that Insurance offered by Atha Insuranoe Agency be accepted. Seconded by Councilman l~ash. Carried. ~etter was read from Thos. N. Snell, ~'iayor of Fellsmere, thanking the Sebastian Fire Department for their speedy responce and effieient work when called for assistance. Councilman Channell moved that, Now, .therefore, under the authority given us in Sec. 29 of the Charter, we adopt Robert's Rules of Order, Revised, as standard proceedure for all future ~usiness conducted ~y this Council. And I further move that the Clerk be instruced to purchase 7 copies of said book, and that one be furnished each Councilman, the Mayor and the Clerk. Seconded by Councilman DeCristofaro. Councilman Baxter moved to table same until a committee is formed and such parts that conflict with the City Charter be taken out. Roll was called and tie vote was as follows: Ayes Councilman Decristofaro Councilman Channell Nayes Councilman Baxter Councilman Nash President Sembler did not vote. Mayor Boone recommended that 4 jackets or coats be purchased for the ~ regular Patrolmen and the reliefman at approximately ~15.00 each. Councilman Baxter made a motion that the jackets be purchased and the cost not taken from their clothing budget. Seconded by Councilman ~ash~ Carried. Mayor Boone instructed to see that dog ordinances are enforced. The Mayor stated the need for ne~ts for dog catchers and means of transportation to pound in Veto Beach after he contacts Mrs. Peggy Custer in reference to same.
