Park Atty. James T? Vocelle, Absent The reading of the minutes of the regular meeting of Dec. 12, and Special meeting of ~ec. 19, were read and approved. Mr. Adolph Pesat appeared before the council asking for a reductiom in the occupational license , for operating slot machines in the 6ity of SebaStian, whereupon Councilman Vickers movedthat attorney be instruced to prepare an ordinance, repealing Chapter 67, changing Sec.I, to read, owners or managers of slot machines operated inthe City of Sebastian shall pay a license tax of $60.00 per station, or a minimum of ~30©.00 , whichwas secon~dd by Councilman and carried by the following vote: Ayes, Baughman, Fields, Vickers, Glasgow, and Hardee, nays none. A letter from The Florida Power ~ Light Co. requesting a reduction in their occupational license s for operating a light and ice plant, in the The City of Sbastia$ was deferred un- next regular meeting. Nays, None. Furniture in the house recently foreclosed on belongi'ng to Mrs. G. A. Cain, was deferred until next meeting, before any action would in the matter would be decided upon. Mr. Vickers who is chairman of the grove committee,' discussed the selling of the fruit in Edgewater Park, and suggested that he thought since tSe price of'""t.~e fruit ~as so low that ~t would be a good idea ~o wait a week or so, before trying to sell. ' The chairman of the City Council asked if there w~re any bids to be presented for City clerk, and ~yor ~adger presented an application from Mrs. T. A. Jordan, also his letter in reply to Mrs. Jordan's application. ~ ~. P. Lawson presented his application for clerk, read as follows: THe Honorable City Council of Sebastian; Imake this application as clerk of City Of Sebastian, at $12.00 per week at one-half time, and any extra time that will be necessary to conduct the business of the 'city. Subject to approval of the council. '~ Yours truly, P. P. Lawson. Mt.Glasgow moved that P. P. Lawson be appointed as clerk of the City of Sebastian, which was seconded by Fields, vote as follows: Ayes, Baughman, Glasgow, Fields, Hard~e, Vickers Not m voting. Miss Park, who is the present city clerk, addressed the chairman at this time telling they had no doubt ow~rlooked that part of the Charter, whereby it is provided that the shall be appointed for a term of two years, with the compensation neither raised or ~red. Mr.G~as~ewg ~moVed that a comm~ittee be appointed to take the matter of Miss Park up with an attorney at once, which was seconded by Vickers, and voted as follows, Baughman, Glasgow, Vickers, Fields, Hardee, the c~irman appointed Messrs. Baughman and Vickers as a committee ~o confer with an attorney, the chairman stated he would try to arrange to go also. Motion by Vlckers to adjourn, second by Fields, Council adjourned, Motion carried.
