Coniglia called the meeting to order at 4:37 pm. The Pledge of Allegiance was said. ROLL CALL. Coniglio Charles Cardinale Discuss Street Party, Juried Art Show, and Parade for December 16th � 17tn Mr. Moore addressed the Committee and introduced Police Chief White and Capt. Puscher, and indicated that he wants them to become familiar with the logistics af this ev�nt. Betsy Cannelly recapped the previous meeting for Chmn. Coniglio and anyone who had been absent from that meeting. 5he indicated that at that meeting, it seemed as though there were some prablems with the logistics of the present plans for this event. She nated that in the early days of planning, in February and March, when other aptions wcr� available in terms of location, a d�cision was made, and the alternate locations may naw no longer be available, such as Riverview Park. She then not�d that this seems to be a late date to suggest changing the location, and this was the reason far calling for today's special meeting. Chmn. Coniglio commented that ane of the reasons for changing the dates of the event was because of the conflict with the City emplayee Christmas party, which would make it inconvenient far City employees to be available for the Street Party. . u • � 75�H ANNIVERSARY COMMITT�E MINUTES OF SPECIAL MEETING OF AUGUST 15, 2000 � Mr. Moore commented that the basic goal is to make this event happen successfully. He noted that at the brief management me�ting on this issue, there was no intentian to cancel anything, but there were som� concerns, and there were no specific recommendations made to cancel, or make it a one-day event ar a two-day event. He indicated that the management team's position is to simply work together with the Committee to go over all of the statistics and logistics, as to how to make it successful. He then suggested that now is the time ta work out all of the mechanics and logistics of a two-day event, with a specific location, what events, how much manpower and how many employees, etc. He invited some of the Committee members to work aut these issues at a management team meeting on August 24t", at 10:30 am, since some departments will be involved. Ther� was some discussion abaut the parade. City Council's ability to approve the use af alcohol at the park was mentioned and discussed. Mr. Moore noted that the final hearing on this issue is yet to be held. Chmn. Coniglio suggested that two Committee members and a volunteer wha is organizing the Art Show attend the management team m�eting. An advertisement for this event will be placed in the City newsletter that will go out in November. Use of the City web site was discussed. The Chairman noted that he will attend th� meeting as well as Julianne Barrett and Charl�s Cardinale, and Bill Dickson or Lisanne Monier. At this time, Chmn. Coniglio explained the discussions to JoAnn Osmundson, wha had just arrived. Mr. Moore listed topics ta be discussed as: temporary closures of streets, parking, actual Iocations, Art Festival, parade, notifications, message in first quarter newsletter, web page, specific dates of December 16th and 17th, schedule of all specific events during those two days. Ms. Barczyk suggested the Committee send representatives every month to a management meeting to keep them up to date an activities from now to December. Mr. Moore indicated that after the management team meeting on August 24t", the Committee members will accompany him to a Council meeting to inform City Council of the plans. The flyer and sign-up form for the Art Show entrants was discussed and a capy was passed araund for review. Chief White voiced an opinion that there was virtually no parking parking lots of Captain Hiram's and Hurricane Harbor were used away, the CAV COR property. Coniglio suggested management team meeting. send out the flyer. that the Committee's logistics be presented at the Mr. Moare suggested holding off until after that meeting to Inez Fielding noted that after driving along Indian River Drive just before this meeting, she did not see much space for booths for vendors. It was noted that the Sebastian Art Club has reserved Riverview I�ark for that weekend. Jayne B. suggested closing o�f CR 512 and setting up the booths on the roadway. Mr. Moore responded that these suggestions will be worked out at the management team meeting. Sal Neglia suggested closing Coolidg� Street and using the CAV COR property for the booths. He also nated that using Indian River Drive b�tween Hiram's and Hurricane Harbor would not have acc�ss to restroom facilities. JoAnn Osmundson noted that the Lion's Club rented faur (4) part-o-lets for the July 4th event which w�re placed in th� parking lot across the street from Riverview Park, and they rented a large dumpster, for a total cost of $500.00. She noted that with a large crowd, these items will be nec�ssary. Chmn. Coniglio nated that the High School has agreed to have a band concert on Octob�r 6�" (Friday night) at 7:00 pm. They will give the same presentation that they give in competition, and it will be held on the faotball field at the High 5chool. H� also hopes to get a sky-dive show at the beginning of the evening (if Sky-dive has not been sold) then finish up with the concert. The �ntire City would be invit�d in conjunction with the 75t" Anniversary Committee. He also indicated that the Committee's T-shirts and caps will be sold at this event, and the Band Boosters will have a refreshment stand. He noted that if Sky-dive is not available, he will attempt to arrang�: some other entertainment befare the band cancert. JoAnn Osmundson will line up a speaker for the next meeting who will give information on obtaining entertainment. The Chairman adjourned the meeting at 5:15 pm. (8/17/00 AB)
