MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER BY CHAI.RMAN JOSEPH STEPHENSON AT 3:00 P.M.
PRESENT: GALE MATTHEWS, LOUIS PRiORE, WALTER SHIELDS, MARY HEINECKE,
CHAIRMAN JOSEPH STEPHENSON, CITY ATTORNEY THOMAS PALMER.
CHAIRMAN STEPHENSON ADVISED THAT THIS MEETING WAS CALLED TO CON-
SIDER THE REQUEST FOR A VARIANCE FROM MARSHALL DUBUQUE, 581 CONCHA
DRIVE, SEBASTIAN. MR.. DUBUQUE BUILT A CARPORT WHICH EXTENDS
10 FEET BEYOND THE'REQUIRED SET BACK OF 25 FEET. THE PURPOSE OF
THE BUILDING WAS TO KEEP WATER FROM COMING INTO SLIDING GLASS DOORS
DURING A RAINSTORM. THE SLIDING GLASS DOORS WEREPART OF THE
ORIGINAL GARAGE WHICH MR. DUBUQUE MADE.INTO ANOTHER ROOM WITHOUT
OBTAINING.A BUILDING PERMIT. HE ALSO FAILED TO GET A BUILDING
PERMIT FOR THE CARPORT. MR, PALMER EXPLAINED THAT THE ONLY
QUESTION HERE WAS WHETHER THE WATER COULD BE KEPT FROM COMING
IN BY SOME OTHER MEANS RATHER THAN'~BY ERECTING THE CARPORT.
ROGER CLOUTIER, BUILDING OFFICIAL,,WAS OF THE OPINION THAT THERE
WERE VARIOUS WAYS TO DO THINS. THIS SITUATION WAS DEEMED A SELF-
CREATED HARDSHIP.
MOTION BY MR. MATTHEWS, SECONDED BY CHAIRMAN STEPHENSON, TO DENY A
PUBLIC HEARING.

NAYS: NONE.
MOTION CARRIED.
MR. SHIELDS ABSTAINED FROM VOTING BECAUSE OF PERSONAL INVOLVEMENT
AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO FILE A CONFLICT OF INTEREST FORM.
MR. DUBUQUE WAS INFORMED THAT SINCE THE VARIANCE WAS DENIED, HE
MUST BRING THE CARPORT INTO CONFORMANCE WITH CITY CGBES,
MEETING ADJOURNED AT 3:45 P.M.
