A. PUBLIC H_EARING
1. CORNERSTONE SELECT HOMES, INC., IN REGARDS TO LOT 17,
BLOCK 507, SEBASTIAN I:IIGHLANDS UNIT 14, is requesting a variance to
allow a septic system within the rear yard, whereas the code requires the septic
system to be placed in a front or side yard.

MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING
AUGUST 4, 1998
Chairman Devito called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.
The Pledge of Allegiance was said.

I'd like to make a motion to accept the minutes as written.
A voice vote was taken. 5 - 0 motion carried.
NEW BUSINESS:
A. PUBLIC HEARING:

CORNERSTONE SELECT HOMES, INC., IN REGARDS TO LOT 17,
BLOCK 507, SEBASTIAN HIGHLANDS UNIT 14, is requesting a variance
to allow a septic system within the rear yard, whereas the code requires the
septic system to be placed in a front or side yard.
Ms. King gave staff presentation, noted that this situation is similar to the one that came before this
Board at the last meeting. Staff recommended approval.
Mr. Fields gave a brief presentation, noting that the well for potable water for the next door
neighbor is located the front lef~-hand comer of his property which prevents the applicant from
locating this well on his front yard. He also noted that this property will have County water and
septic.
Mr. Fields and Ms. King were sworn in at 7:07 pm.
Steve Fields, 1501 Baker Street, Melbourne, representing Cornerstone Select Homes, was present.

There were twenty-six (26) notices of hearing sent out, and we received no objection or non-
objection letters.
Mr. Miller asked how the surveyor found the well. He prefers more verification and detail on how
this well was located.
Mr. Crockett asked if this proposed septic would impose any problems on future wells in Tract B.
Ms. King explained that Tract B is owned by the City, may have a lake on it, and doubted if it
would ever be used for anything else, other than a park.
Chmn. Devito opened and closed the public hearing at 7:17 pm, as there were no proponents or
opponents.
MOTION by Schmidtz/Gore
I'll make a motion that we approve the application by Cornerstone Select Homes to locate
the septic system on Lot 17, Block 507, Unit 14, and we have an approval by the Health
Department.

Gregory Gore - yes James Schmitz - yes
Louis Nicolini - yes
The vote was 5 - 0. Motion carried.
As there was no further business, Chron. Devito adjourned the meeting at 7:18 pm.
