HomeMy WebLinkAbout01091979Sebastian Construction Board meeting January 9, 1979. Ail members present except for Jim Harris. Meeting opened with a discussion about Kenneth Conner, Contractor. He was sent a certified letter with a list of complaints that the owner, who now resides on 461 SW Hazel Street, sent A~t Mayer in DeCember, 1978. Most of the complaints were very minor ones, except for the problem with the circuit breaker for the heater. It was de- cided to write to Mr. Conner another certified letter. W~ will give him 30 days, from receipt of that letter, to correct the electrical problems in this house or we will take appropriate action. Ed Paluch made the motion, Chris Kirrie seconded it, that we send this letter to Mr. Conner. All in favor, none opposed. Mr. Chuck Humphrey, from Anchor Insurance, was present at]% this meeting. We told him about the insurance requirements being lowered for the sub-contractors. He felt that he could not recommend anyone lowering their limits of liability, but this is only his opinion. Also~sc~S~'was, that when a contractor's insurance policy expires, it will not b~ up to us to contact that person and tell him that his certificate is in jeopardy due to his insurance being expired. It will be up to the policy holder to keep his insurance active. When a per- son~s insurance does expire, we will not issue him a permit nor will Art give him any inspections until his policy is activated. The Board reviewed the expense account that Grace had submitted. It was asked, of Grace, that every three months an expense account be submitted for the Board to review. This will give all the members an insight as to how all the monies, deposited into the Sebastian Construction Board account, is being used. This Board is still incomplete. We need a Concerned Citizen Member to sit on this Board so~2that we can act on some old business. Cliff Hoose's name was recommended to the Board. Art will telephone Cliff and ask him if he would be willing to sit on the Board to fill this vacancy. If he accepts, his name will be submitted to the City Council for approval. The next meeting will be called when the Building Dept. has received the grades from those who are to take the Block exam on Saturday, January 13, 1979.
