MEETING WAS CALLED TO ORDER BY CHARIMAN HARRIS AT 7:30
PRESENT: MR. LEWIS, MR. BALLOUGH, VICE CHAIRMAN CAREY, MR. TRIPP,
MR. PALMER, CHAIRMAN HARRIS.
ABSENT: MR. MOLER, EXCUSED.
MR. RIZIO CAME IN AFTER THE START OF THE MEETING.
ALSO PRESENT:. DAN BLAIR, BUILDING OFFICIAL, CHUCK NEUBERGER, ELECTRICAL
AND MECHANICAL INSPECTOR, RAY THOMPSON, PLUMBING INSPECTOR, BOB SAMMONS,
COUNTY ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR.
CHAIRMAN HARRIS AND DAN BLAIR BOTH NOTED THAT THE PURPOSE OF THE
WORKSHOP WAS TO DISCUSS BUILDING CODES AND CERTAIN ASPECTS OF CODE
INTERPRETATIONS.'
ELECTRICAL CODE:
CHAIRMAN HARRIS STATED THE 1984 NATIONAL ELECTRIC CODE IS PRESENTLY IS
BEING FOLLOWED. THE ONLY ALTERATIONS IS THE SEBASTIAN ELECTRICAL CODE.
WHEN IT APPLIES IT IS USED ALONG WITH THE NATIONAL CODE.
MR. CHUCK NEUBERGER, CITY ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR NOTED THE FOLLOWING ITEMS

PLUMBING CODE:
MR. RAY THOMPSON, ~I~Y-BLUMBINGiINSPECTOR, BROUGHT UP THE FOLLOWING ITEMS
FOR DISCUSSION:
WATER SUPPLY COMING IN:
1) TOO MANY LINES OFF THE 1/2 INCH LINE INSTEAD OF GOING OUT TO
3/4 INCH BEFORE BRANCHING OFF.
2) ALL PIPES COMING THROUGH WALL AND SLABS MUST BE SLEEVED.
3 ) ICE WATER MAKE-UP LINES CANNOT USE dADIUM OR GALVANIZED STAPLES
AGAINST COPPER - IT WILL START EATING THE LINES AND CAUSE
PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE.

iT W~S--N~D THAT THERE IS NO PLUMBING CODE IN SEBASTIAN - THE
1984 STANDARD PLUMBING CODE IS USED.
MECHANICAL CODE:
1984 STANDARD MECHANICAL CODE IS USED.
MR. CHUCK NEUBERGER DISCUSSED THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:
1 ) ARTICLE 403 EQUIPMENT LOCATION
2) ARTICLE 404 INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
3) ARTICLE 308.8 - RANGE DUCT CLEARANCE
RECOMMENDATION - MINIMUM OF 24 INCHES
4 ) ARTICLE 603 CONDENSATE DRAIN PIPING
BACK UP DRAIN SHOULD BE IN CONSPICUOUS PLACE.
CHAIRMAN HARRIS REQUESTED A COPY OF A LETTER DATED JUNE 30, 1983 BE
GIVEN TO THE BOARD- RE: PLAN REVIEW CHECK LIST.
A DISCUSSION FOLLOWED CONCERNING SOIL COMPACTORS.
DAN BLAIR, BUILDING OFFICIAL, STATED THAT A LOT OF AREAS ARE NOT
EVEN USING 24 INCHES FILL, ESPECIALLY IN THE GDC AREA. A LOT OF WHITE
SAND IS BEING USED CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH CRACKED FOOTERS AND FLOORS.
ANY SOIL NOT "VIRGIN" SOIL SHOULD HAVE A COMPACTOR RUN OVER IT.
CHAIRMAN HARRIS SUGGESTED A COMPACTION SHOULD BE REQUIRED~
A LETTER FROM FLORIDA ROOFING, SHEET META~ AND AIR CONDITIONING
CONTRACTORS ASSOCIATION, INC. CONCERNING THE VIOLATION OF FLORIDA
STATUTE 489 WAS READ INTO THE MINUTES BY ViCE CHAIRMAN CAREY.
MOTION BY VICE CHAIRMAN CAREY, SECONDED BY MR. TRIPP TO ADJOURN
