HomeMy WebLinkAbout06301978Licensing Board Meeting, June 30, 1978
All members present.
All members looked over the copy of the license that was sent to the
printer and all agreed to accept it. Grace will order 250 for $27.85
and will ask, when placing the order, if there is any extra charge
for printing on a colored background.
Merle had asked if the Building Dept. had received any inquiries as
to the Licensing Board. Arthur said, "Yes, we receive inquiries all
the time, mostly asking when the test will be given." The¥~.~a~ told
that we'll probably start testing some time after September. This
will allow time for the grandfathering to be taken care of.
There will be one application form for all. eg. those who are to b~
grandfather~d in add those who will be taking the test to receive
their license. We will need to keep on file information of all wishing
to be licensed.
A seal was ordered on June 21, 1978 from kBC Mfg. in Raleigh, Miss~ss!ppi.
A check in the amount of $15.95 was enclosed with the order.
Ed Paluch questioned the issue of a bond. He said that, basically,
most areas you go into, the pricing of a ~ond is determined as to
what the city dictates that the bond cover. Most of them are sidewalks,
damage to ptlblic property, etc. What could you damage in sebastian?
Art said swales are about the only t~g, as there aren't that many
sidewalks in the City to damage. After further discussion, Ed felt
that this bond be tabled until such tim~ that we intend touuse it. or
~eed it. Houston felt that a $1,000 bond was immaterial.
Motion by Ed Paluch, seconded by Jim Harris' that we not require a bond
at this time. All in favor, none opposed. Motion carried.
Jim Harris had a question as to the amount of insurance was needed in
order to q~alify for obtaining a city license. Ed S'ahmucker referred
to page 7 of our Licensing Ordinance Which reads:"...that he has co,-
plied with the Florida Workmen's Compensation Law'." Further discussion
resulted that Grace write to the State in ~eference to obtaining a
waiver form.
Jim Harris made the motion, Merle Hass'on seconded, to accept the minutes-
of June 20, 1978. All in favor, none, oppoSedl Motion carried~
Discussing the times of the year the test will be given, it was' de¢~ded
upon that we test in the months of January, May and September on the
second Saturday of these months. Ed Paiuch made thcs motion, HOuston
seconded, to establish these dates as th~ Ones our Board will gfge
the tests. All in favor, none opposed. Motion carried. Grace
write to H & H Block and let them know what we have proposed for--our
testing schedule to see if this will Work out with their proctor.
Ed Paluch suggested to the Board that any member who misses three con-
secutive meetings be removed fr~m the Board~ No motion was made to
accept this.
Upon going over the format of the Palm Beach County application form,
#6 on the first page created quite a bit of discussion. It concerns the
subject of a financial statement. After quite a lengthy discussion, it
was decided that we ask for a financial statement, ~ntch the applicant
will compose himself and submit to the Hoard..
Chris K~rrie, CNK, attended this meeting. The Board voted to recommend
to the City Council Chris's name for appointment to the Board as the
heating and ventilation contractor. This motion was made by Ed Paluch,
seconded by Houston. All in favor, none opposed. Motion carried.
Further discussion brought about Chris's qualifications. He is quali-
fied as a plumber a~so, in addition to his heating and ventilation.
In the event that Clint Hale, who was voted upon by the Board to be the
plumber contractor, cannot fill the position he was appointed to, the
Hoard would recommend to the City Council to appoint Chris to be the
plumber contractor and leave the position of the HARV contractor open for
another qualified person to appointed to.
Houston made the motion, Ed Paluch seconded, to accept the application
form after all the necessary changes have been made. All in favor, none
opposed. Motion carried. Grace will re-type the application and sub-
mit it to a printer for quotation
