HomeMy WebLinkAbout07111978Licensing Board Meeting July 11, 1978 All members~resn~except for Houston Tripp. Motion by Ed Paluch, seconded by Merle Hasson to accept the minutes of July 7, 1978. All in favor, none opposed. Motion carried. This meeting dealt with finalizing the application for printing. We made Changes and additions on the first page. On #3, Application Fee, it was decided to stipulate that, if you do not have to take the examination, the fee will be $50. with examination, it is $75. We had discussed, at a previous meeting, that the only people who will be paying this $50 fee will be all those who are going to be grandfathered in. Also, any person who has taken the examination in a different area and scored 75% or graeter will be issued a City of Sebastian Certificate of Competency by reciprocity for a $50 fee. This will accompany an application and pro6f of insurance required by our law. all those persons who are State Certified will not have to pay or obtain City of Sebastian Certificate of Competency. The State supercedes any cal rulings so all certified persons will only have to submit an plication with proof of insurance for our files. When we came'.~to ~6, about the Financial Statement, we decided to put the form that we had taken out at the last meeting back in and add that the applicant could use either this form or one he may s~bmit of his own to the Board for approval. On #8, we added that the person applying for a license, if corporate, must have a Certificate of Good Standing from the secretary of state. on page 2, under Specialty Contractor, we have decided to ask for "Name and Description" instead of just saying "name one." Page 3 will be retyped in four sections. The way it read, was misleading. The last section on this page will now be the first section with the -' added notation that "Ail applicants complete the following." The re- maining three sections will follow and be numbered accordingly. The grandfather period was brought up. This period is 90 daysfrom the effec~iye date the ordinance went intoeffect, which means that from June 7, 1978 (the effective date of th~eordinance) to September 7, 1978 will be designated as the grandfather period. Not, having the application formsor licenses ready for distribution, we have asked the city attorney if we could extend this grandfather period. He told us that we could have the 90 days start from the date w~receive the applications forms. We will advertise, in the local newspaper, whenthe applications will be ready for distribution and that they can be obtained from the Building Dept. at the City Hall. The next meeting will be called after all the applications and licenses have been received from th~ printer.
