Jerald Smith I'd like to make a motion we accept the minutes from the meeting, June 9~, 1998. A voice vote was taken. 4 - 0 motion carried. O~,D BUSINESS: None NEW BUSINESS. BLOCK EXAM: 1. McLaugldln, Thomas H./Building Mr. Thomas McLaughlin, 787 Carmen Meadows Drive, Manches~r, Missouri, 63021, was present. He was sworn in by Chron. Smith at 7:08 pm. It was noted that Mr. McLauF~lin is President of Pinnade Conlxacting, Inc. MOTION by Holdridge/Herbig I'd like to make a motion that Thomas H. McLaughlin be eligible to take th~ Block exam for Building Contractor. SEBASTIAN CONSTRUCTION BOARD MINIYFES OF REGULAR MEETING OF JULY 14, 1998 Roll call: Michael Herbig - Yes Chnm. A ~w questions from Board nmnbers were answered satisfactorily. Wellner, John A. / Gener*l Mr. John Wellner, Route 1, Box 106, Kasson, MN., working out of Roche, MN., was present. He was sworn in by Chron. Smith at 7:14 pm. There was a brief discussion between the Board members and the applicant. MOTION by Holdridge/Herbig I'd like to make a motion that John Anthony Wellner be eligible to take the C~n~ Building Contractor's a~un. (Block) Roll call: William Doyle - yes Michael Holdridge - y~s Michael Herbig - yes Chum. Smith - yes The vote was 4 - 0. Motion carried. VIOL/~TION HEARINGS: None BUI .L..DING QFFICIAL.MATTERS~ Mr. Bonacci informed this Board fruit the Building Departmont will take over impection of driveways on direction of Mr. Frame, CiW Manager. He noted that there has been a rash of driveway problems in the past two years, and described the problems. There was discussion 2 SEBASTIAN CONSTRUCTION BOARD MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF JULY 14, 1998 on th~ quality of the concrete mix, fiber mesh, expansion joints, and concrete cuts. Mr. Bonacci indicated that expansion joints will be thc first test to try and there was discussion on the placement of these iteras. Mr. Doyle .spoke of "slump tests" that can be performed on concrete for strength. There was also discussion on the wire mesh that is used in concrete, and it's purpose. There was also discussion on ek~-trical lines going through conduits which lay on top of th~ ground and Mr. Bonacci explained the seriousness of this issue. He noted that this is very dangorous to plumbers who, at some later date, might mistake that conduit for a water line. BOARD MATTERS: Chmn. Smith noted that Kathy Nappi is still out on sick leave, so there is no report from other Counties are doing with the Block exam. He noted that it was discussed last mcagh~, but would probably be forthcoming when Kathy returns.
