GEORGE APPROVAL OF MINUTES MOTION BY MR. DERNBACH, SECONDED BY MR. CAPP TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING HELD 8/8/89 AND JOINT MEETING WITH THE CITY COUNCIL HELD 8/30/89. CARRIED. CAPP TO APPROVE APPLICATION PENDING NOTARIZED EXPERIENCE TO TAKE THE BLOCK EXAM IN SEBASTIAN, IN SEPTEMBER. CARRIED. BLOCK EXAM - GAINESVILLE ROBERTS, CHARLES/SWIMMING POOL MAINTENANCE & REPAIR MOTION BY MR. CAPP, SECONDED BY MR. NEUBERGER TO APPROVE APPLICATION TO TAKE THE BLOCK EXAM IN GAINESVILLE. PAGE 3 SEBASTIAN CONSTRUCTION BOARD REGULAR MEETING - 8/8/89 DISCUSSION - BLOCK EXAM MR. COOPER ASKED THE BOARD TO WAIT UNTIL AFTER OCTOBER iST TO MAKE A DECISION ON THE TESTING OF ALL SPECIALTY CONTRACTORS AND AT THAT TIME TO SEE WHAT THE FINANCIAL POSITION THE CITY IS IN AND POSSIBLY REQUESTING THAT ADDITIONAL PERSONNEL BE HIRED. MEANWHILE, THE FEES WOULD BE LEFT AS THEY ARE FOR THE PRESENT. MOTION BY MR. NEUBERGER, SECONDED BY MR. DERNBACH TO HOLD THE PREVIOUS DOCUMENTED iNFORMATION ON INCREASING THE FEES AND TESTING OF SPECIALTY CONTRACTORS UNTIL THE OCTOBER MEETING OF THE BOARD. CARRIED. THE BOARD SECRETARY ALSO TOLD THE BOARD THAT SHE HAD RECEIVED SEVERAL INQUIRIES FOR TAKING AN ORAL BLOCK EXAM. IT WAS NOTED THAT BLOCK AND ASSOCIATES CHARGE $1BO.O0 FOR AN ORAL TEST. AT THE PRESENT TIME, WE CHARGE $135.00 TO SPONSOR THE TEST IN GAINESVILLE. IF OUR FEE IS NOT INCREASED FOR AN ORAL TEST, THE CITY WOULD PAY A PORTION OF THAT TEST. MOTION BY MR. NEUBERGER, SECONDED BY MR. CAPP THAT THE FEES BE RAISED TO $185.00 TO SPONSOR AN ORAL TEST IN GAINESViLLE. CARRIED. DISCUSSION: UNLICENSED CONTRACTORS A LENGTHY DISCUSSION FOLLOWED CONCERNING THE USE OF UNLICENSED CONTRACTORS. ALSO DISCUSSED WAS THE PALM BEACH COUNTY ORDINANCE AND ITS EFFECTIVENESS WITH DEALING WITH UNLICENSED CONTRACTORS. MOTION BY MR. NEUBERGER, SECONDED BY MR. DERNBACH THAT THE PALM BEACH COUNTY ORDINANCE BE RECOMMENDED TO THE CITY COUNCIL AND IT BE INCORPORATED INTO THE CITY CODE. CARRIED. RECESS WAS TAKEN AT 10~20 P.M. REOPENED AT 10:3'0 WITH ALL PRESENT. PAGE SEBASTIAN CONSTRUCTION BOARD REGULAR MEETING - 8/8/89 REGISTRATION WITH STATE - TEMPORARY LICENSE THE BOARD SECRETARY TOLD THE BOARD THAT WITH THE STATE NOW REQUIRING CERTAIN SPECIALTY CONTRACTORS TO REGISTER WITH THE STATE, THAT AFTER TALKING WITH DPR AND LEARNING THAT THEY ARE ALREADY BACK'LOGGED 6- 8 WEEKS, THAT PERHAPS AN EXTENSION OF ONE MONTH COULD BE GIVEN ON THEIR lgBB-Bg LICENSE. MOTION BY MR. NEUBERGER, SECONDED BY MR. DERNBACH'TH~T. THE SPECIALTY TRADES NOW REQUIRED TO BE REGISTERED WITH THE STATE BE GIVEN AN EX~TENB."ION O~. ONE MONTH WITH A POSSIBLE SECOND EXTENSION. CARRIED. VOLUNTEERS ~OR BLOCK EXAM - SEPTEMBER MR. CAPP AND MR. DERNBACH VOLUNTEERED TO MEET THE BOARD SECRETARY AT THE COMMUNITY CENTER TO REGISTER THE APPLICANTS FOR THE BLOCK EXAM.
