OFFICIAL MATTERS: Mr~ Bonacci referred to a letter that contains a Florida State Statute change for Journeyman.in all trades, phimbing/pitefilXing, ~cal, or I-IVAC and de~-trieal. In the past, a joumoyman had to be tested and licensed in our.area. It is now changed in that an individual who holds a valid, active journeyman liceme issued by any county or municipality in this state may work as a j~ in the wade without ~ an add/tional oxamination or paying an additional liceme fee ff he or she has scored at least 70%, or after October 1, 1997, at least 75% on a proctored journeyman Block examination or other proctored examination approved by the board for the trade in which he or she is liconsed. He noted that in our area, most of the journeyman work is in the commercial construction ar~. CONSTRUCTION BOARD MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING OF AUGUST 12, 1997 Mr. Bonacci explained that if a joumeynmn is licensed anywhere in the State of Florida, meets the above criteria with percentages, and comes to Sebastian to work on a specific job, he can register with the City Ccamactor Licensing Department by showing proof (card) and he is covered and doesn't have to take the test. However, when such reostmtion takes place, tim City has the authority to charge a registration fee for paperwork, etc. MOTION by Mosby/Cecrle I recommend that we continue abiding by Section 489.1455 of the Florida Statutes, and allow the City Building Department to continue working as they have, and to allow the Building Depamuent to charge a reciprocity fee of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for joumeynmn, electrician, plumbers, pipdltters and mechanical, and HVAC. Smith inquired about the status of the Termite Shield, and Mr. Bonacci responded that it will be in force as of September 1, 1997. Mr. Bonacci directed the secrecy to make copies of the resolution and the memo that he sont to all Building. Contractors. BOARD MATTERS~ Board members discussed the coming expiration dates of several members. Adverti~ have been placed in the newspaper, and members whose terms expire on September 30, 1997 were RECORD SCORES IN SCOREBOOK; Scor~s.were recorded in the scorebook by Mr. Cecrle and Mr. Heame.
