OF ALL PERSONS ENTITLED TO REGISTER AND VOTE
IN THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA; REQUIRING
THAT ALL PERSONS WHO SHALL HEREAFTER VOTE IN
ANY ELECTION HELD BY AND IN THE CITY OF
SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA, SHALL BE EEGISTERED AS
PROVIDED BY THIS ORDINANCE; PRESCRIBING THE
FORM OF THE CITY REGISTRATION BOOKS AND THE
TIMES AND MANNER OF REGISTRATION AND THE DUTIES
OF THE CITY REGISTRATION OFFICER.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE ~IAYOR AND THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA:
Section 1. All persons who shall hereafter be entitled
to vote in any election held.in and by the City of Sebastian,
Florida, shall register in '.the official Registration Book of said
City kept by the City Registration Officer during the time such
Registration Book shall be open for registration in the year 1947
or subsequent years. No person shall be entitled to vote in any
election held in and by the City of Sebastian, Florida, after the
effective' date of this Ordinance unless such person shall have so
registered as provided by this Ordinance.
The Official Registration Book of the City of Sebastian,
Florida, shall be open in the year 1947 for the registration of
voters entitled 'to vote in said City on the Second day of September,
1947, and shall remain open for such purpose until the time of
closing thereof five days immediately prior to the day of the next
general City election in said City, and at which time said Regis-
tration Books shall be closed as provided by existing Ordinances
of the City of Sebastian. In the year 1948 and subsequent years,
the City Registration Book of said City shall be open for the
registration of voters during the times provided by the Ordinances
of the City of Sebastian as they now exist, or as they shall exist
at such time, and it being the intention to provide that said
Registration Books shall be opened for such an extended period
beginning September 2, 1947, only in the year 1947, under the
provisions of this Ordinance and in order to provide and permit
a complete new registration of all persons in said City who shall
be entitled to vote in subsequent City elections.
Section 2. The City Registration Officer shall publish
a Notice once each week for two consecutive weeks in a newspaper
of general circulation published in Indian River County, Florida,
(there being no newspaper published in the City of Sebastian) and
with the first publication date of said Notice to be not later than
fifteen days before the Second day of September, 1947, advising
all persons in said City of the opening of said Registration Books
in the year 1947 as herein provided, and which Notice shall be
substantially as follows:
" NOTICE TO ALL RESIDENTS OF
SEBASTIAN, FLORID~A
All residents of Sebastian, Flo~ da, are herewith
notified that by virtue of the Ordinances of said City a
new registration of voters of said City has been provided,
and hereafter no person shall be entitled to vote in any
election held in and by said City unless they shall h~ve
registered as a voter of such City on or after September
2, 1947. Previous registrations are cancelled.
In the year 1947, the Registration Book of said City
will be open for the registering of qualified voters of
said City in the City Hall during usual business hours,
beginning September 2, 1947, and will remain open until
the fifth day before the next general City election and
at which time said Book will be closed for the year 1947. ~
Every resident of the City of Sebastian qualified to
vote in City elections of said City is urged to register
during the period herewith stated.

A copy of such Notice shall be posted in the City Hall of this
City, but failure to so post such notice shall not invalidate the
registration of voters hereunder.
Section 3. The City Registration Officer shall procure
and have available for the ~egistration of voters in said City a
suitable Registration Book, and which Book shall be designated as
"The City Registration Book of the City of Sebastian", and shall be
the official Registration Book of said City. All voters registering
under the provisions of this Ordinance shall register in such
official Registration Book. The form of such book shall be sub-
stantially that used for the registration of voters in State and
County elections.
The City Registration Officer shall perform his duties as
such in the manner provided by the Ordinances of this City as they
now or shall hereafter exist. The times and manner of registration
of voters in said City shall be as provided by the Ordinances of
said City which now or shall hereafter exist.
Section 4. All Ordinances of this city providing for the
holding of elections in said City, and for the registration of
voters in said City preliminary to the holding of such elections
and the purging of the Registration Book of said City, shall remain
in full force and effect and are not hereby repealed. All other
Ordinances of said City in conflict with the provisions of this
Ordinance are herewith repealed to the extent of such conflict.
Section §. This Ordinance shall be in full force and
effect immediately upon its passage and approval by the Mayor.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance was duly
passed by the City Council of the City of Sebastian, Florida, the
22nd day of July, 1947.
