AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA, APPROV-
ING, SUBJECT TO A REFERENDUM ELECTION, AN INCREASE IN
THE AUTHORIZED MILLAGE OF THE NORTH INDIAN RIVER COUNTY
FIRE DISTRICT FROM ONE-HALF MILL TO A MAXIMUM OF ONE
MILL; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the North indian River County Fire District was
created by Indian River County Ordinance No. 80-5, and was approved by
City of Sebastian Ordinance No. 80-4; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to County Ordinance No. 80-5 a referendum
election was held in which the voters of the District approved a
millage levy not to exceed one-half mill upon all real and tangible
property within the boundaries of the District; and
WHEREAS, the North Indian River County Fire District Advisory
Board has recommended that the authorized millage be increased from
one-half mill to one mill; and,
WHEREAS, such an increase can be accomplished only if approved by
the governing bodies of the municipalities in the District and by the
voters within the District by Referendum;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
The recommendation of the Advisory Board of the North Indian
River County Fire District is approved by the effective enactment of
this Ordinance.
Enactment of this Ordinance does not amend any part of City of
Sebastian Ordinance No. 80-4 except the authorized millage of the
District.
This Ordinance shall become effective only if a majority of the
voters voting in a referendum on the increase of the millage to one
mill on March 10, 1987, approve the proposed increase and the proposed
Ordinance for Indian River County, Florida, on this matter becomes
effective according to the "Effective Date" clause therein.
