RULES AND RATES GOVERNING RENTAL AND
USE OF SEBASTIAN COMMUNITY CENTER AND
SEBASTIAN SOCIAL CENTER
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA, BY AND THROUGH
THE CITY COUNCIL, that the rules and rates governing rental and use of
Sebastian Community Center and Sebastian Social Center are as follows:
RULES
1. Each organization shall have its own committee to carry out
the details of function planned and will present that plan to the Center
Director at least two weeks in advance of the planned activity. No date
shall be considered as binding without the approval of the City Clerk who
will maintain a record of all rentals.
2. Chairperson of each group shall be responsible for:
Wiping of all used tables and tablecloths~
b. Leaving kitchen and meeting room clean and in order.
c. Having all trash cleared away neatly in receptacles.
d. Removing coffee from urn and leftovers from building.
e. Enforcing rule that alcoholic beverages are not per-
mitted in the building or on the premises except by
permission of the City Council.
f. Reimburse City for any damage incurred dUring use of
the building.
3. Organizations shall not store private equipment in either
building..
4. Only space requested, lobby and rest rooms shall be entered

5. Center Director and/or Custodianshall have complete control
of Public Address system, lights, thermostats, all other equipment. Also,
the locking and unlocking of doors.
6. Custodian shall be responsible only for the setup and main-
tenance of center. Organizations shall contact the Center Director or the
immediate supervisor of the custodian before requesting that he perform
additional duties.
7. Facilities, tables, chairs and Other equipment shall not be
removed from any building except by special permission of the Recreation
Committee and/or the custodian who shall obtain the approval of his supervisor.
8. Permission foruse of decorations Shall be received from the
Center Director and/or the custodian. NO thumb tacks shall be used, only
masking tape. All such decorations shall be removed by the organization at
the conclusion of the event.
9. Buffet dinners, catered service and light refreshments may.
be served.
10. Religious groups may not use any City building as a church
or for any. kind of religious services.
ll. Permission for once-a-year events may be secured in advance
by sending a letter of request to the City Clerk.
12. Organizations using facilities on regular established schedule
shall recheck their schedule every th.~ee (3) months.
13. Activities shall be conducted according to law and conform
with the moral standards set by the Recreation Department. Meetings and/or
entertainment held for the purpose of advancing any doctrine or theory sub-
versive to the United States shall not be permitted.
14. A cleaning deposit equal to the renting fee shall be paid
together with the rental fee to cover cleanup in excess of the normal clean-
ing activities, and in violation of the rules as established. If rental
hall is left in same condition as when hired and no damage or breakage has
occurred, then deposit will be returned.

NOTE: Spec~al"exemptions must be approved by the 'City Council.
There .will be an additional charge for Sundays and holidays for
custodial fee for overtime at the rate of $7.50 per hour.
Hours are based on the normal work week of Monday to Friday. All
holders of permits shall leave the buildings at the following hours:
9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon
1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Mondays thru Fridays
7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays
Requests for use of City buildings on Sundays and Holidays shall be
arranged in the regular manner.
These rates are to be effective October 1, 1979.
