DUTIES AND POWERS OF
REGULAR STANDING COMMITTEES
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA, BY AND THROUGH
THE CITY COUNCIL, that the duties and powers of Regular Standing Committees
are as follows:
I. The duties and powers of all regular standing committees are as set
forth below:
A. Make monthly reports as requested by City Council as stated in
March 29, 1979 memorandum from City Clerk. (Copy is hereby attached
and made part of this Resolution.)
B. Be receptive to all requests, complaints or criticisms by any con-
cerned citizen within the realm of the particular committee in
question. If not specific obligation of your committee, pass on to
the correct contact.
C. Offer any/all ideas for the good of the City.
II. The regular standing committees can be included in either of the two
categories as follows:
A. Policy Making -
1.
Finance - Advise Council of Financial Status.
2.
Parks and Recreation
- Advise Council of
Recreation Changes and
Improvements.
3.
Street Lights
- Advise Council of
status of Lights.
4.
Sebastian Cemetery
- Advise Council of
Cemetery Changes and
Improvements.
5.
Sebastian Airport
- Advise Council of
activities of airport.
6.
Awards Committee
- Determine contracts for good of City.
7.
Policies and Procedures
- Determine City
benefits for employees.
8.
Retirement
- Determine City
benefits for employees.
9.
Board of Adjustment
- Final resolution of problem.
10.
Planning and Zoning
Commission - Determine validity of request
for zoning changes
and recommend to
Council.
B. Advisory -
1. Police Committee - *
2. Council on Aging - Know their actions -will improve the
retiree's life.
3. County Environmental Committee
4. Citizen's Master Plan Participation Committee
5. 911 Committee
6. Mayor's Advisory Committee
* The Police Committee shall be an advisory board to the Chief of
Police on matters of public safety and on matters of importance
concerning the efficient operation of the Police Department.
