ESTABLISHMENT OF ENTRANCE FEES AT SEBASTIAN
INLET STATE PARK.
WHEREAS, Mr. Elton J. Gissendanner, Executive
Director of the Florida Department of Natural Resources
(DNR),- desires to recofnmend to the Governor and Cabinet
that the present policy prohibiting an entrance fee for
the north side of Sebastian Inlet State Park be rescinded,
WHEREAS, adoption of such a recommendation
the Governor and Cabinet would allow DNR to.establish an
entrance fee for the north side of the Park, and
WHEREAS, such an entrance fee would impact primarily
upon residents of the City of Sebasti. an and Brevard and
Indian River Counties, and.
WHEREAS, the establishment of such an entrance fee
could have the effect of denying use of the north side of the
Park to many of these residents, and
WHEREAS, revenues from such an entrance fee would
be used by DNR to expand and improve camping facilit.ies at
the Park, and
WHEREAS, su~h camping fac:ilities are used primarily
by out-of-state and ou~-of-county residents, and
WHEREAS, t~ cost of providing expanded and improved
camping faciliti, es should be pa:id by thc users of such facil i ties,

SECTION 1. The City Council. hereby tYormal, ly goes
on record as opposing the establishment of an entrance fee for
the north side of Sebastian Inlet State Park.
SECTION 2. The City Clerk :is hereby autl~ori.::ed and
directed, to provide copies of this Rcsoluti_on to
Robert Graham, other ine~nbers of tthe l:lori, da (':al>inet, t:l~,.".
Indian River Legislative Delegation, the Indian Rive'r County
Commissioners, the Brevard County Commissioners, and
municipalities in Brevard and Indian River Counties.
This Resolution was duly passed and adopted by
the Council of the City of Sebastian, Florida, this ~c~
day of March, 1983.
