CUTS IN FEDERAL FUNDING OR OTHER REDUCTION IN FEDERAL OR STATE
SUPPORT FOR THE "HEADSTART PROGRAM" OF THE ECONOMIC OPPORTUNI-
TIES COUNCIL.
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the City Council of the City of
Sebastian, Florida, by and through the efforts off Councilman Peter Vallone, that
there is a possibility in a reduction of United States Government support of the
Headstart Program of the Economic Opportunities Council, and
WHEREAS, the Headstart Pro~ram is a valuable activity that has been of sub-
stantial benefit to the State of Florida, Indian River County, and the City of
Sebastian, and
WHEREAS, it is the position of the City Council of the City of Sebastian
that there should not be budget cuts in the Federal Budget, nor other reductions
in the extent and activities of the Headstart Program;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN,
FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
1. The current United States Government funding to support the activities
of the Headstart Program of the Economic Opportunities Council should not be
reduced.
2. The City Clerk is directed to mail a copy of this Resolution to United
States Senator Paula Hawkins for her consideration in making any decisions regard-
ing acts of Congress that may negatively effect the current scope and activity
of the Headstart Program in the State of Florida, Indian River County, or the
City of Sebastian.
