JOB DESCRIPTION TITLED "STREET SUPERINTENDENT" FOR INCLUSION
INTO PART V OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN OPERATING PROCEDURES;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby approves an amended job
description titled "Street Superintend6nt" as submitted by the
Mayor in accordance with Ordinance 0-84-16,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
1. The amended Job Description for "Street Superintendent"
attached hereto and made a part hereof is hereby approved and adopted
by the City of Sebastian.
2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to add to the bottom of
the amended job description tke following: "As amended by Resolution
No.... ~- ~-~ , eff. Oct. 2_5,1986" and to distribute copies
of the amended job description to the Mayor, City Council Members,
and Department Heads for inclusion into Part V of their copies of
the Standard Operating Procedures.
3. This Resolution shall be effective on October2~ 1986.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that this Resolution was passed by the City
Council of the City of Sebastian, Florida, on theL~ ~day of October,
1986.

STREET SUPERINTENDENT
MAJOR FUNCTION:
Supervisor in charge of supervision of the operations of the Street
Department Section of the Public Works Department. Work is performed
with considerable independent judgment, discretion and initiative in
carrying out ~he daily operations of the Department. Work is subject
to t. he Direction of the Department Head.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES:
Supervises the maintenance and construction of streets and drainage.
Supervises, directs, plans, coordinates and instructs all personnel
within the Street Department. Inspects work performed by personnel.
AsSureS compliance with departmental rules and regulations in accordance
with personnel .rules and regulations, and city policy.
Performs related work as required by Department Head.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of the use and care of ali
types of public works tools, equipment, instruments, materials and
supplies. Ability to plan, direct, supervise, coordinate, organize
and inspect work plans, programs, and activities and to prepare written
reports. Ability to plan, assign, instruct, review and evaluate work
assignments of skilled personnel. Establish and maintain effective
working relations wi~h subordinates, supervisors, officials, and the
general public.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Some experience in Public Works in a supervisory capacity; graduation
from high school; or an equivalent' combination of education and experience.
