A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA, ADDING
A NEW JOB DESCRIPTION TITLED "GOLF COURSE DIRECTOR"
FOR INCLUSION INTO PART V OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN
STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council hereby approves a new job
description titled "Golf Course Director' as submitted by the
Mayor in accordance with Ordinance 0-84-16,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
1. The new Job Description for "Golf Course Director"
attached hereto and made a part hereof is hereby approved
and adopted by the City of Sebastian.
2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to add to the bottom
of the new job description the following: "As approved by
Resolution No._~--~~-' , and to distribute copies of the new
job description to the Mayor, City Council Members, and
Department Heads for inclusion in Part V of their copies of the
Standard Operating Procedures.
3. This Resolution shall be effective on_~~.~

1986, and repeals and supersedes 'the old job description titled,
"Golf Course Manager".
I HEREBY CERTIFY that this Resolution was passed by the City
Council of the City of Sebastian, Florida, on the ~-/~day of

ON THE 8TH DAY OF APRIL, 1987,UNDER THE INSTRUCTIONS OF THE CITY
ATTORNEY, THOMAS PALMER, AND PERMISSION OF THE CITY CLERL, KATHRYN
BENJAMIN, THE ABOVE REFERENCED RESOLUTION WAS SUPERSEDED BY
RESOLUTION NO. R-87-18.
GOLF DIRECTOR (OA.) ~
MAJOR FUNCTION:
This is a highly responsible administrative work in direction and
coordinating all phases of the play and promotion of the Sebastian Muni-
cipal Golf Course. Work involves the supervision of activities related
to the Golf Course in accordance with the policies determined by the
City Council, City Charter and applicable laws and ordinances. Pro-.
fessional public personnel work in areas Such as recruitment, training
and special projects.
The Golf Course Director shall report to the Mayor and shall operate u~-.
der objectivities,policies, programs and budget approved by the City Council.
Supervises Rangers and Starters.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES:
Interpret and enforces the policies, rules and regulations of the
Sebastian Municipal Golf Course as pertains, to play and promotion.
Has no jurisdiction over scope of work of Golf Course Business
Manager. Assists Business Manager in preparing budget.
Promote various functions that are within the by-laws and policies
of the golf course which will'generate~peratin~'re~enues, and creat~
member interest.
3. Maintain close cooperation with community officials and develop
a strong community awareness within the people of the cammunity.
4. Be current on developments in the world of golf and present the
facility as being a leader in positive innovation.
Work closely with the other officials associated with the facility,
allied associations of golf and others that.migh~ contribute to the
Facility's function.
Coordinate and communicate with local news media, commercial firms,
civic organizations and other entities to promote the development of
the golf facility's policies and programs.
7. Have responsibility for membership development, supervise and keep
a current handicap system, records, etc.
Represent the City in Local tournaments (50 mile radius) when duties
permit. Represent ~he facility by being ~v~il~ble t~ ~ea~ at
functions on the premises, community functions and travel when nec-
essary to promote the facility, subject to approval of the Mayor.
9. Oversee the publishing and distribution of informational and pro-
motional literature.
10. Be responsible for the golfing functions of the golf course.
11. Enforce discipline. May reprimand members and guests who are in
violation of club policy or rule when if the occasion warrants.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must be a P,G,A. member~
Must possess a personality that wi~ll .make people feel welceme and that

Must be qualified ad~ninistrator andha~e demens,trated that q~ali~ty
and have extreme knowledge of promotional operations, of M~n~cipal
Golf Course.
Shall possess a collede,~ degree fr~m an accredited college o~ uni~ers-~ty
or its equivalent fram other traini'ng courses, and/or an experianced ~ackground
which would equal such proficiency.
5. Shall be competent golfer with considerable e~e~i'ence in teachin~ organizing
instructional programs and in management oftournaments~
6. Must have promotional ability, physical and .mental energy, and'~ave demon~
strated creative talents.
7. Should have the respect of his peers.
