A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA,
ADDING A NEW JOB DESCRIPTION TITLED "BUILDING MAINTEN-
ANCE TECHNICIAN" TO PART V OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN
STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DAT~,
WHEREAS, The City Council hereby approves a new job description
entitled, "Building Maintenance Technician" as submitted by the
Mayor in accordance with City Ordinance 0-84-16.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
1. The Job Description for "Building Maintenance Technician"
attached hereto and made a part hereof is hereby approved and
adopted by the City Council for the City of Sebastian.
2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to add to the bottom of
the said Job Description the following; "Adopted by Resolution No.
R-88-25, effective ~ 13, 1988" and to distribute copies of
the Job Description to the Mayor, City Council members, and
Department Heads for inclusion in their copies of the Standard
Operating Procedures.
3. This Resolution shall become effective on April 13,
1988.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that this Resolution was passed by the City
Council of the City of Sebastian, Florida, on the ~ day of

Responsible work in coordinating the maintenance and repair of
public municipal buildings and facilities. Work is performed under
the Public Works Director or Building Superintendent with wide
latitude for independent judgement.
ILLUSTRATe.yE ~
Organizes, plans, directs maintenance and repair activities of
City's buildings and structures in tradework including carpentry,
painting, roofing, masonry, electrical, plumbing and locksmith work.
Estimates costs, materials and time. Procures and controls use of
supplies and equipment. Consults and advises appropriate
departments regarding building and maintenance plans.

KN W EQ~ ABIL~ AND SKILLS:
Proficient in carpentry, plumbing repair and electrical work up to
240 VOLTS and working knowledge of other maintenance repair.
Thorough knowledge of the techniques, tools and materials used in
the skilled trades and building maintenance and repair. Ability to
instruct and direct, keep records and prepare reports; effectively
deal with City employees and the general public.
~ESIRED EDUCATIQN AND ~:
3 Years experience in building construction field or building
maintenance with supervisory experience. Graduation from high
school or an equivalent of education and experience.
