A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA,
ADDING A NEW JOB DESCRIPTION TITLED "HEAVY EQUIPMENT
OPERATOR" TO PART V OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN
STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, The City Council hereby approves a new job description
entitled, "Heavy Equipment Operator" as submitted by the Mayor in
accordance with City Ordinance 0-84-16.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
1. The Job Description for "Heavy Equipment Operator"
attached hereto and made a part hereof is hereby approved and
adopted by the City Council for the City of Sebastian.
2. The City Clerk is hereby directed to add to the bottom of
the said Job Description the following; "Adopted by Resolution No.
R-88-26, effective April 13, 1988" and to distribute copies of
the Job Description to the Mayor, City Council members, and
Department Heads for inclusion in their copies of the Standard
Operating Procedures.
3. This Resolution shall become effective on Ap/~ 13,
1988.
I HEREBY CERTIFY that this Resolution was passed by the City
Council of the City of Sebastian, Florida, on the 133Lh day of
April, 1988.

HEAVY E UIP~ OPERATOR
MAJOR FUNCTION:
This is highly skilled work in heavy equipment operation
requiring ability to handle all types of large earth moving and
excavating equipment, work is carried out with minimum of
supervision and is subject to the direction of the Public Works
Director or Street Superintendent.
ILLU~TRATIVE DUTIES:
Major function is operating heavy equipment such as the above
mentioned with a weight class of over 10 tons and all other heavy
equipment of Public Works Department.
Performs related work as required and assigned by the Public
Works Director or Street Superintendent.
~ OUALIFICATIONS:
KN WL~ ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
Considerable knowledge of operating heavy equipment and using
various types of digging and cutting machines. Ability to make
independent judgements and follow oral and written decisions.
Abilities to interpret engineering drawings and maps.
~U~ AND EXPERIENCE:
Five years experience operating earth moving and other type of
equipment. Qualified in the operation of all heavy equipment.
Prior experience as Maintenance Work III desired. Must have a
high school diploma or an equivalent combination of training and
experience.
