A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN, INDIAN RIVER
COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS;
PROVIDING FOR CANVASSING OF ELECTION RETURNS; PROVIDING
FOR DECLARATION OF RESULTS; DIRECTING THE CLERK TO
ENTER THE RESULTS OF THE ELECTION IN THE OFFICIAL
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL; PROVIDING
FOR REPEAL OF RESOLUTIONS OR PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Sebastian enacted
Ordinance No. 0-88-43 and Ordinance No. 0-88-44 on January 11,
1989, calling for a special election to be held on March 14,
1989, in order to submit a referendum issue to the electorate and
to amend the City Charter; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Sebastian, pursuant to
Section 4.05 of the City Charter, issued a Proclamation on
January 25, 1989, scheduling a regular election on March 14,
1989, for the purpose of selecting members of the City Council;
and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Indian River
County, Florida, have scheduled a special election on March 14,
1989, for the purpose of submitting to the electorate the issue
of adopting an additional one cent sales tax for the purpose of
capital improvements; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Sebastian has
agreed with the Supervisor of Elections of Indian River County,
Florida, that said Supervisor will appoint inspectors and a clerk
to each election board and said Supervisor shall submit to the
City Council the results of the voting at each polling place as
well as the results of any absentee votes cast; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk of the City of Sebastian, pursuant
to Section 4.07 of the City Charter, has caused to be published
notice of the regular and special election on February 17,
February 24, and March 3, 1989, in the Vero Beach Press Journal,
a newspaper of general circulation throughout Indian River
County; and
WHEREAS, the City Clerk has posted notice of the regular and
special election on the official announcement board located at
City Hall; and

SECTION 2. RECORDING. The City Clerk is hereby directed to
enter the results of the regular and special elections in the
official minutes of the City Council meeting during which this
Resolution is adopted.
SECTION 3. CONFLICT. Ail resolutions or parts of
resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This resolution shall take
effect immediately upon its passage.
