A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN, INDIAN RIVER
COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING A JOB DESCRIPTION FOR THE
OFFICE OF AIRPORT DIRECTOR; PROVIDING FOR INCLUSION OF
SUCH JOB DESCRIPTION IN THE CiTY OF SEBASTIAN STANDARD
OPERATING PROCEDURES; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF
RESOLUTIONS OR PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT
HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Code for the City of Sebastian, Florida,
provides for the appointment of an Airport Director; and
WHEREAS, the 3ob description of the Airport Director has
been recently evaluated by the City Manager; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the
City of Sebastian, Indian River County, Florida, as follows:
SECTION ~. The job description for the classification of
Airport Director, attached hereto as Exhibit "A" is hereby
adopted.
SECTION I__~I. The City Clerk is hereby directed to supply a
copy of this new 3ob description to the Mayor and members of the
City Council and all department heads for inclusion in the
Standard Operating Procedures for the city. The City Clerk shall
note the number and date of this ResOlution on said 3ob
description.
SECTION III. Ail Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION iV. This Resolution shall take effective
immediately upon its adoption.

AIRPORT DIRECTOR
NATURE OF WORK
This is a responsible administrative position in the planninG,
organizinG, directinG and coordinatinG the operation and
maintenance of the municipal airport and facilities. The
employee, as a Department Head, exercises considerable
independent judgment in effectuatinG the responsibilities of this
position under the General direction of the City ManaGer.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES
Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the activities of
subordinates in the operation and maintenance of the airport.
Responsible for seekinG and procurinG all future revenue bearinG
activities plus DOT and FAA fundinG for which the airport
qualified, subject to the provisions of the City Charter.
Additional public relation efforts and exploration would be
required in the areas of leases, contracts, and concessions, to
produce further revenues.
Enforces federal, state and local regulations and statutes
GoverninG airport operations.
Responsible for airport safety precautions.
Effectuates decisions of policy as authorized by the City ManaGer
and City Council.
Prepare and monitors the budget for the airport.
Approves all purchases for the airport.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Strong background of administration and finance in
airport/aircraft related fields, as well as a sound understandinG
of local Government.
Considerable knowledge of airport operations and maintenance.
KnowledGeable of federal, state and local regulations and
statutes concerninG airport operations.
Ability to prepare reports in concise, organized and logical
manner.
