A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN, INDIAN RIVER
COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING A NEW JOB DESCRIPTION FOR THE
POSITION OF ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER; PROVIDING FOR
INCLUSION OF SUCH JOB DESCRIPTION IN THE CITY OF
SEBASTIAN STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES; PROVIDING FOR
REPEAL OF RESOLUTIONS OR PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS IN
CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, The City Council hereby approves a new job
description entitled, "Assistant City Manager" as submitted by
City Manager;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SEBASTIAN, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION I. The Job description for the classification of
Assistant City Manager, attached hereto as Exhibit "A" is hereby
adopted.
SECTION II. The City Clerk is hereby directed to supply a
copy of this new 3ob description to the Mayor and members of -the
City Council and all department heads for inclusion in the
Standard Operating Procedures for the city. The City Clerk shall
note the number and date of this Resolution on said job
description.
SECTION III. All Resolutions or parts of Resolutions in
conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
SECTION IV. This Resolution shall take effective
immediately upon its adoption.

the vote was as follows:

The Mayor thereupon declared this Resolution duly passed and

EXHIBIT A
ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER
MAJOR FUNCTION:
Highly responsible administrative staff position working
directly for the City Manager. Work is performed with
considerable independence, but is subject to executive direction
by the City Manager.
ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES:
Responsible for the administration of personnel Standard
Operating Procedures and collective bargaining agreements.
Additionally, serves as a project coordinator
projects assigned by the City Manager
for special
Performs research and makes application for Federal, State
or private grants and financial assistance.
May also serve in the capacity of Airport Director if so
specifically assigned by the City Manager.
Serves as Acting City Manager in the absence of the City
Manager subject to the provisions of the City Charter.
KNOWLEDGEL ABILITIES AND SKILLS:
Strong oral and written communication skills. Knowledge and
ability to deal with personnel administration. Ability to
administrate and carry out special projects as assigned by the
City Manager. Ability to research and apply for grants.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or
university with a degree in Public Administration or related
field. Minimum of two (2) years professional municipal
administrative experience or any equivalent combination of
education experience and training may be considered.
