R.98-12 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SE ASTIAN, INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA, PERTAINING TO THE MUNI IPAL ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR CANVASSING OF ELECTION RETURNS; ROVIDING FOR DECLARATION OF RESULTS; DIRECTING THE CLERK 0 ENTER THE RESULTS OF THE ELECTION IN THE OFFICIAL MINUT S OF THE MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL; PROVIDING FOR REPEAL OF RESOLUTIONS OR PARTS OF RESOLUTIONS IN CONFLICT HERE ITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Sebastian pursuant to Section 4.05 of the City Charter, issued a Proclamation on January 28, 1998, calling a general elec ion on March 10, 1998, for the purpose of selecting two (2) City Council members; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Seb stian, pursuant to Section 4.07 of the City Charter, adopted Resolution No. R-98-0 1 on January 28, 1998, pecifying Precincts 12, 14, 15 and 16 as the official polling places for the City of Sebastian for the gener I election, and naming the offices to be filled; and WHEREAS, the City Council affinned the Canv sing Board for the City of Sebastian on January 28, 1998; and WHEREAS, the City Clerk of the City ofS bastian, pursuant to Section 100.021 of the Florida Statutes, has caused to be published notice of the gcner I election on December 9 and 19, 1997, in the Vero Beach Press Journal, a newspaper of general circulation and WHEREAS, the City Clerk has posted notice of the general election on the official announcement board located at City Hall; and WHEREAS,Precincts 12, 14, 15 and 16 of the ity of Sebastian, Indian River County, Florida, held a general election on March 10, 1998; and WHEREAS, the Canvassing Board has verified sai returns and has found the same in proper form. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEBASTIAN, INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORI , that: SECTION 1. DECLARATION. The City C uncil of the City of Sebastian, Indian River County, Florida, hereby accepts the returns provided by the Canv sing Board for the City of Sebastian for the general election, held on March 10, 1998, in Precincts 12, 14, 1 , and 16 of the City of Sebastian, as attached hereto as Exhibit "A". SECTION 2. RECORDING. The City Cler is hereby directed to enter the results of the general election in the official minutes of the City Council meet' g during which this Resolution is adopted. SECTION 3. CONFLICT. All resolutions 0 parts of resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. SECTION 4. EFFECTIVE DATE. This resol tion shall take effect immediately upon its passage.
