Called to order by the Chairman:
Roll Call: The following members were present
William Ingui, Wayue Leboeuf, Jeanne Jessup, absent Jayne Barczyk,
Jessica Keaton, Elizabeth Gray, Alternate,
Staff members present were Linda Kinchen, Recording Secretary, Chris McCarthy, Parks
Superintendent
Approval of Minutes, January 27, 2003 Motion to approve by Jayne Barczyk second by
Wayne passed unanimously.
Old Business: Pre schooler Discussion - the chairman expanded on his idea for a park for
2 - 3 year olds. Chris stated it would be better as suggested last meeting to incorporate
into an area where other playground equip is located. Safety seat swings are one item
suggested for the park. The chairman asked Chris to prepare a list of possibilities. Mrs.
Keaton suggested maybe an infant playground area for like 9 months to two years. Mrs.
Barczk suggested a fenced area be put in at the community center so the kids have a
place to play while mom is working out. Chris recommends the tennis court area could be
expanded or perhaps behind the chamber. Hardee park was also suggested. Mrs. Gray
suggests that Hardee should not be considered. Mrs. Keaton feels the community center
should be for older children. Mrs. Keaton suggested getting a fence company to donate
for advertising. Bryant Court and Easy street park were also suggested. Discussion to be
continued at the next public meeting.
New Business: A discussion turned to Hardee Park Lighting Chris explained what is
being installed. Also it was recomanended to put in some gazebo's - It was recommended
that signs be posted "Beware of Gators". Chris stated he will add the paved walkway for
the handicapped in next years budget. A public hearing meeting was scheduled for
Saturday March 22nd, 2003 to discuss the 2003-2004 parks improvements from 9AM to
12 Noon.
Member Matters: Mrs. Barczyk asks about the stormwater park. Chris states he has no
information about it at this time. She stated they need to add rock and grade the parking
lot at the community center. Also she asked if the Community Center had smoke alarms
or a sprinkler system and she felt it needed more or bigger fire extinguishers.
Staff matters: Secretary states needs shirt sizes for city shirts to be supplied.
