Recreation Advisory Committee
October 28, 2002
Called to order by the Chairman:
Roll Call: The following members were present
William Ingui
Edward White, Absent Excused
Jeanne Jessup
Jayne Barczyk
Julianne Barrett, absent excused
Elizabeth Gray, Alternate
Staff members present were Linda Kinchen, Recording Secretary, Chris McCarthy, Parks
Superintendent
Mr. Ingui goes over the Old Business — letter he wrote and gave to Mr. Jones for grant
approval.
New Business: Park Improvements — Hardee Park
Lighting the Trail — Chris McCarthy goes over the plan for the Hardee park
improvements discussing the size of the lighting and upgrade of the warm up area as well
as new landscaping to be installed around the restrooms.
Mr. Ingui asked if part of the trail improvements could be paved to allow for handicap
accessibility. Chris says Easy Street is being looked at for that. But Chairman states a
small portion of this could be used also with some blue paint for designation of special
needs. Chairman agrees to give Chris a letter with the committee's recommendations.
Chris says he tried to incorporate into the budget the committees plans and
recommendations. Will elaborate more at the next meeting.
Chairman says he would appreciate an overview to see if the report presented to City
Council was being implemented.
There has been a request for enclosed racquetball courts and where we could put them.
The next meeting was scheduled for November 18th due to the Thanksgiving Holiday.
The meeting was adjourned at 6PM due to the fact that the chamber needed to be used for
another meeting.
