The Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee Meeting was called to order by Chairman William
Ingui at 5:30 p.m.
Mr. Ingui asked- for the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll Call: The following members were present:
William Ingui
Edward B. White
Jeanne Jessup
Jayne Barczyk
Julianne Barrett - Absent
Elizabeth Gray — Absent
Staff Members present were Sally Grunzwelg, Recording Secretary, and Chris McCarthy Parks
Superintendent.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES - May 20, 2002 — Change Committee title to Parks & Recreation
Advisory Committee. Mark Mason was not present at the May 20th meeting.
Motion by: Barczyk/Jessup
A voice vote was taken. 4-0 motion carried as amended.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Chairman Ingui informed the committee the success of the Public Hearing held on July. 20th.
NEW BUSINESS:
Chris McCarthy, Parks . Superintendent informed the committee any budgetary
recommendations must be in before August 14th. The Committee will give the Council their final
recommendations before August 14 .
A public hearing was held on July 20th. Chairman Ingui prepared a report as a "work -in -
progress", under the premise that projects can be modified and public input is always welcomed
by the City Council.
The Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee members presented different recommendations
on various parks. Jane Barczyk would like to keep everything in a natural habitat. Jane also
mentioned handicapped accessible possibilities at various parks. At Riverview Park the new
shelters should blend in. Vending machines at any of the parks should be non -intrusive.
Chairman Ingui "no additional vending machines" without discussion. Jeanne Jessup mentioned
fitting them into a natural setting. Jeanne will also attend the Council Meeting on July 2e to
thank the City Council for accepting the request to have a public hearing, and inform them on
f0041 the good attendance at the Public Hearing Workshop on the 20th

Barber & George Street Park — Jane Barczyk would like to see walking paths and play areas.
Filbert Street Park — Jane Barczyk informed the committee that she would like to see some
lights at this park. Chris informed the committee that this park is a "passive park". No lights
should be installed.
Behind Chamber Building — This area is a very small area of 0.3 acres. Mr. McCarthy
suggested that other low -impact sports could replace that of shuffleboard. Sal Neglia said he
would like to see this park remain the same, as not to block the view of the river.
Stonecrop Park --The* type of park should be changed from neighborhood to community.
Joseph Russo, resident would like benches and some parking. Mr. Russo said It is a beautiful
area.
Hardee Park _ Jane Barczyk requested to have a park entrance sign, and also signs as you
approach from the. bridge.
Members asked Chris McCarthy about the Boys and Girls Club behind City Hall. Chris showed
the committee the plans for the area behind City Hall. Chris will give a letter to City Council
informing them that he showed the Board Members the plans.
Motion by Chairman inguiMhite to adjourn. A voice vote was taken 4-0 to adjourn at 7:15 P.M.
